Vison came into focus with a blur of the corneas, and a pound of the head. I whimpered quietly as I pushed my body up, my chest feeling heavy and numb. Gazing around, I realized I was in Sarah's bedroom on the bed, no longer in my costume. I scratched weakly at my jeans and groaned sleepily, rubbing my head.

"Looks like someone's up," Sarah said, a slight cheer in her voice.

I looked up with a clearing vision to see her still in her dress, with her hair down now, tiara vacant,  and her feet bare. She turned from the full body mirror she had been staring at and smiled at me, a weak one forming on my own exhasted face.

I rubbed at my head and tucked the annoying bang behind my ear, "What time is it?" My voice came out raspy and tired.

She checked her cellphone quickly, "Mmh, almost 9."

"Oh goody," I groaned, rolling my eyes back; I had slept  through the rest of Jenny's party. Least to say, I felt a slight bit guilty.

"Don't worry," Sarah suggested, "Jenny's not mad. She was actually very worried. But after you fainted your um, friend, with the blue mask helped sneak you inside. I was a little shocked to see him here, but uh, he sure was helpful. Afterwards he just left without another word, and I was grateful for that. What is he even doing here? Anyways, the party ended pretty shortly after and everyone went home. Chris doesn't know you're here; he went to take some girl home because her parent's car broke down and then he got a call from the office about some break-through new evidence in their experiment. Something about plants? I don't know, but you're welcome to stay; he shouldn't be back until tomorrow at the earliest."

I nodded, taking in all of the new information; so Jack was stalking me at the party...Typical. I chuckled a little, "It seems Chris always shows up earlier than we think he will. I should probably go."

She sighed a little, a dissapointed look on her face, "But we didn't get to really hang out today."

"I know I'm irresistable, but you'll survive," I joked, making her roll her eyes.

Jenny poked her head through the door and quietly entered, one hand behind her back. I smiled at her suspiciously, "Happy birthday kid," I congradulated again. Just to think: 7 years ago, a child that I had part in creating took her first breath; I sort of wish I had been there to see that. Although it was probably annoying; too must screaming and blood that wasn't caused by my knife.

She giggled, "Thanks! Ermm, are you okay now? Did I make you sick?"

"No," I shook my head, "You didn't do anything wrong; it was just a bad memory. I'm feeling quite excellent at the moment. Oh, before I forget," I started, reaching for my hoodie on the other side of the bed. I searched around in the pocket before pulling out a bright, yellow Daisy. It was wilted, and dying; absolutely beautiful. Jenny's eyes lit up lightly at the flower, and I caught a quick glimpse at Sarah, whos face was blushing a deep red; she remembers the time I gave her a flower, that looked a lot like this one.

"Is that for me?" Jenny asked in a quiet, excited voice.

I smiled and nodded, actually surpised; 7 year olds usually aren't too thrill to get a dying flower for their birthdays. But Jenny was different, as I am now staring to understand, and she gazed upon the flower as though it were the loveliest plant in the world.
