Leaving from Jenny’s room, I descended down the stairs, the little girl following behind me eagerly. Sarah had just run off to get dressed in a fresh pair of clothes and Chris was taking the annoying fat girl home. To be honest, I was a tad but disappointed Jenny hadn’t killed the girl, but, baby steps, right?

“Oooh! Look Jeff, a puppy!” Jenny exclaimed, running towards the glass back door.

Turning my head, I landed my gaze upon a dog in the backyard. I rolled my eyes, going over to the door and pushing it over with a quick slide. The small creature ran up towards us as Jenny bent down, petting the excited little pup with a wide smile on her face. The dog was brown and short, its torso elongated as it head flopped joyfully with large ears.

“Jeff, it’s a wiener dog!” Jenny said happily as she scooped the energetic ball of annoyance in her arms.

I rolled my eyes at the sight of her excitement towards the creature, thinking it was of no particular interest, “No, it’s a mutt. Just put it down.”

She shook her head, her voice going sad, “But Jefffffff-“

“No butts,” I stopped, turning down into the hallway, “Leave that filth outside where it belongs.”

I groaned at the sound of her following me, all the way up the stairs and into my room, the dog making all sorts of stupid noises, its tongue licking whatever it could touch.

“Jeff,” Jenny began, her voice going soft, “Can we keep it.”

She closed the door behind her and sat on my bed, bouncing lightly as I folded my arms, “Why are you asking me? This isn’t my house.”

“But, this is your room, and if I can keep him in here, then-“

“No, no way,” I stopped her abruptly, shaking my head, “That thing doesn’t go anywhere near me.”

She pouted, “Why not?!”

“Because it’s disgusting. I’d rather throw it out the window.”

She giggled a little as the dog licked her nose eagerly, obviously excited to be around. But, not for long.

“Jenny,” I began, my voice going serious, “You need to kill it.”

“What?” She asked, her blue eyes turning to mine, shock present.

I shrugged, gesturing to the mutt, “It doesn’t have a home. And even if it does, the owners obviously don’t want it enough since they let it get outside. You wouldn’t want it to be lonely, would you?”

“No!” She shook her head, pulling it up closer to her in a warm embrace.

“Exactly. And it can’t stay here, so you have two options. Option one is that we let it back outside, into the wild where it could get eaten,” she jumped, “Or it could get hit by a car,” she shook her head fiercely, “Or you know, it could even go hungry, starve, and then die,” her eyes began to water.
