The Guardian Angel Trilogy - Introduction

This is a sort of a fantasy take, both literally and figuratively, on the SwaSan tracks that irritated me the most - one the Kavya track (though I used it to focus only on what Sanskaar had gone through before he reached the state of being married to Swara); the stupid idea (my opinion), of the sisters opening a marriage bureau  and third being the idiotic confrontation of Swara and Sanskaar on the road after the equally baseless separation.

The three have been written over different points of time but I have tried to maintain a continuity in the story plot while trying to stick to the serial track.

When I wrote my first story about guardian angels, it was on a whim. I had read a story prompt: 'Every individual has a personal guardian, summoned by words long forgotten. You have just accidently uttered them.' This led me to think magic and at that point of time, what could be more magical than SwaSan? And further, it was Swaragini's first anniversary - Magical coincidence. Enough to get me rambling and reminiscing their magical journey, which turned out to be "Vilasini Visits"

The second one, Kosmic Konnection, (the spelling is suitable, both to the fact that the cosmic connection between Swara and Sanskaar went on a holiday and also relatable to Kosmos) was out of frustration. The track had again given rise to hopes and speculation and while I was all for the angst and separation and intensity that is the hallmark of Swara and Sanskaar's relationship, I had wished to take such hopes with a pinch of salt (more than a pinch, given the CV's stellar performance in ruining every possible track till date). This is not a judgement about actions of either Swara and Sanskaar, I was apprehensive as to how their reconciliation would come about and whether Swara would ever realise where she went wrong with Sanskaar, quite a number of times, in her relationship with him, which again is entirely my point of view. I had a sneaking suspicion that this track would be rushed without Swara ever acknowledging that she was wrong in not trusting him.

I wanted someone to show that mirror to her, someone who would force her to introspect all her actions and come to the conclusion that she failed because she never chooses to trust Sanskaar. I currently do not like any of the other characters and felt them inadequate for this role which is when I recalled my earlier creations, the guardian angels. But be warned, this is not the lighthearted tale like my earlier one was and can be read as a standalone piece. That was written to in an attempt to capture a part of the magic of their journey. This is a struggle to make Swara remember some portion of the magic they were.

Further, it is nowhere in the league of the OS penned by Viji, (SwaSan Drabble OS – The Colour Black), which beautifully brought out Swara's angst based on Sanskaar's descent to hell. Viji is an inspiration for most of us, both in the stories she writes and the comments she so lovingly posts for all our attempts. I am often tempted to write because it gives me yet one more opportunity to read her take.

Lastly, of all my writings, this one is truly a rambling narrative.

The third one, Angelic (Ad)vice, was the result of trying to fathom what exactly Sanskaar must have been thinking in that fraction of a second, between him catching her and letting her fall (remember this scene on the road, when they set their eyes on each other, after the gap of six months?)

Anyway, back to this tale, I also wrote this also because I could not resist when Viji wanted to know if there would be a sequel to Kosmos & Swara encounter, a confrontation between Vilasini and Sanskaar. I had replied that given my state of mind at that time, it would be more of Vilasini egging Sanskaar on and would be titled "Rage of the Angels". I could not, however, get rid of that idea and finally wrote this story, after all I could not refuse Viji.

But there would be no more stories in this series, for a multiple reasons:

First, it was a good idea when I started off but one which would be stretching the idea to the point of beating it to death, if I wrote one more tale.

Second, the third tale itself has turned out to be a little preachy (the spelling is correct, it is not a peachy tale)

Third, the most practical one, I have exhausted most of the names of colours and hues and had to resort to "The Phrontistery" where new and/or made-up words for colours are listed. I have given the Chromatic index in the footnotes and references page.

Last, with the ending that I have written, there is no meaningful fun in the Guardian Angels appearing again.

I loved writing out the three stories, and am a little proud too, at the way I have been able to close it out. Do read and let me know for all feedback is welcome – good or bad.

Love,

Nyna
