Blue zinc, cream fence, black gate, the house looked quite the same from when last I saw it, well, unless this time there was a black water tank so visible. I pressed the switch just by the gate, ringing the bell to get response, this house is so big, they'd not hear if I knock from today until tomorrow. After waiting for few minutes, someone came, his wife, looking at me,  she knew who I sought after and immediately said, "Good evening my dear, my husband is at the church", I hadn't even greeted yet, I looked at her, her protruded stomach made me yearn for a child of my own, is this how God saw me, fragile and little in a womb and still said "Before you were formed in your mother's womb, I knew you", how fascinating, He knew me before I was formed so of course, he knows this baby too. I appeared lost in thought, so she - his wife, added, "Ecwa Gospel Church, it's at the next street." Well, I know that, but I was thinking of something entirely different. "Thank you ma", I said and hurriedly walked towards the Church.
Entering the gate, I could see him, talking to someone, he looked so awesome, the kind of people you tag as "having it all figured out". He turned and saw me, smiling he excused himself and walked towards me, urging me to follow suite, and, I did. We went into the church, he sat on the pew at the last row, left column. "Good evening sir", I greeted. "Good evening Michelle, how are you? How is school and how was your devotion today." Too many questions I thought, well, "I am not fine, really. School is annoying, and my devotion, I read somewhere in the book of Matthew that talks about coming to Jesus for rest. Okay, of course I know I am heavy ladened and I believe I've come already, isn't that what dedicating my life to Him means? But, there's no rest, I don't just feel it yet." I replied. Lately, Mr Sam is like my Jesus on earth, it's either I don't know how to pray, or I just feel way better after talking to him. I mean, He was the one who told me about how much Jesus keeps knocking at the door and how He's been waiting and would continue to wait until I let him in. But, why would I want such an amazing person to wait, do you know how the Bible describes him? The son of God, God the son. Who am I that he should be mindful of me?
"Michelle", Mr Sam said, bringing me back to reality. God, I think a lot. I am certain I have more conversations in my head than I'd dare have with humans.
"Life is not supposed to make perfect sense, you see, Jesus promised rest, you are right. But, that doesn't mean there won't be troubles. The book of psalm 34:17 talks about how the righteous are tried too many times but the Lord comes through for them each time. Troubles are part of life, it's not all rosy with Jesus, but do you know what's worth it? The peace He gives in the midst of the storm, His love that finds you no matter how deep into the world you go. His grace that's more than sufficient and most importantly, His presence that's forever with us, Hebrews 13:5, He said he'd never leave. He's not Van, He understands, He won't leave you, ever." He said.
"Thank you so much sir, it means a lot. But, why does it still just so bad? Can life be more cruel? I want my best friend back. Or does this mean we were never best friends? Best friends stick with each other, not leave each other because of their new faith. I pray there's gain for all this pain." I told him almost sobbing.
Holding my hand, he said, "there's gain in Christ, there always is. The glory to come can never be compared to the struggles of today. Hold on. Let's pray".
"Our dear redeemer, thank you for coming for us, thank you for dying for us. Thank you because your blood has made the difference, thank you for your daughter, Michelle. Dear father, I am only human, I fail, help her to start seeing you as a father, help her remain consistent with you. Relieve her of the burdens, and come through for your child like you always do. We ask for your mercy and grace. Keep us for you,"
And, together, we chorused an "Amen".
"Thank you sir, I have to get going. Mum timed me. Thanks a lot. Say hi to the family, and don't forget to keep praying for me." I told him standing up to go home.

*Hey friends, okay, i'm sorry I've not been writing. I wouldn't want to use school as an excuse, even though school is taking most of my time. I was surprised to see that people are actually taking their time to read this. I'm grateful. I wasn't writing cause no one was reading, but little acorns become great oaks. So, honestly tell me what you think about this book so far.

Thank you very much, you're loved.😚😚😚*
