"No way in heck...!" Snake protested for the fifth time. Indeed, no way in heck could a super spy past his mid-thirties be persuaded into attending one of the biggest anime conventions of the world. But then, there's always a catch. This time the catch was, the begging soul in question was Snake's best friend for life; Dr Hal Emmerich. The pair had been through thick and thin together, ever since they met at Shadow Moses, and now they worked day and night to run Philanthropy; an organization striving to rid the world of the worst weapons of mass destruction: Metal Gears.
I got distracted for a moment there... now, returning to the memory.
Hal was practically on his knees at this point. "Please! I don't want to go by myself this time! Besides, I'll have a really cool costume on, but it will be quite heavy... just want to have you at hand in case anything happens as I walk around in it..." He sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. He was anticipating the reply; finally scolding him for going way too far with all this anime crap...
".... Fine then. I'll provide backup." was the surprising reply from the gruff, nonchalant man. "But don't make me wear even my actual sneaking suit, I'm not ever going to join in on a fancy dress party..." Before he could finish though, Hal was hugging Snake in joy. "Thank youuuuuu, I knew you'd agree!!!" he gleefully spoke out. Snake sighed and only patted his excitable friend's back in response. All of a sudden, they were interrupted by the wailing of an infant girl who'd finally woken from her nap.
Damn... how did you ever manage this, Hal?
I know why you agreed Snake.. * sigh* No need to play dumb..Ten days later, the trio had landed at Tokyo and were huddled inside a hotel room. Snake was sitting on the bed where Sunny was sleeping again just after getting ready (suffering from jet lag, the poor soul), as he simply stared in complete awe at Hal's.... do. "Screw me sideways-" His statement was cut short as he tried to suppress the greatest bout of laughter he had ever had in his life. It took him a lot of strength to compose a warm smile. "I mean, you look amazing, Hal...!" His friend grinned back widely and bowed, with some difficulty. "Thanks a lot, Dav- whoa!!!" He nearly toppled forward from the immense mass of his costume. Snake unsympathetically shushed him, then pointed at Sunny, who was fortunately still fast asleep.
Hal nodded and adjusted his outfit, and whispered. "Sorry.. uh, are you ready too...?" he gestured with his heavy clanky arm at Snake, who was casually dressed in a black vest and cargo pants. The latter only shrugged to give an affirmative response. "I've heard that the ladies are quite cute here." His eyes were still watery from holding back a burst of amusement, but he swiftly wiped them. Hal sighed irritatedly. "Snaaake... there's always one thing on your mind..."
He very awkwardly walked over to his phone on a nearby desk, making a lot of noise in the process too. Snake hurriedly covered Sunny's ears and frowned at Hal, who was checking the time. "5:43 am... I think we can head out now! It's never too late!" Hal whispered happily. He started to clink-clank over with widespread arms towards the door instantly. Snake slowly lifted little Sunny and held her close to him, then stood up gingerly. Unlike his baka of a friend, he was more careful. They both made their way out of the room.
That's all for today folks.. c: I know you're excited to read on but because we're mean, we'll release the rest in another part! Stay tuned!
This isn't Dragon Ball Z, Hal... wait, how do I know... no way...
