Defeated, that was the emotion Isabelle Giovanni felt as she looked around the dark cell. They were locked away like caged animals and she could do nothing. She was defenseless and out of options, something she never experienced before. Tears brimmed in her eyes at the thought and it took immense courage to conceal her emotions. But she knew that this was no time to cry.  She had a little girl that needed her protection, make that two.

The seven year old trembled furiously. The air was chilly and she sought comfort from her pregnant mother. The weak smiles of assurance she'd normally receive from her mother, were turning in to grimaces as the days go by. The echoed screams from the other cells frightened the child, despite the fact that their cage was in solidarity in comparison to the rest. Her mother's attempt to bring her child closer was a struggle. Her wounds were making it very difficult. Nevertheless, she succeeded after several failed attempts. Her chapped lips kissed her daughter's forehead.

"Don't cry sweetie, I'm here." She shushed gently. "Look at your necklace, it is the key to everything. Any time you feel fear, squeeze it. Ok?"

"Okay." The child muttered quietly.

Isabelle prayed hard, hoping for a miracle. Then it was like God heard her when she heard a faint bird calling. At first she thought she heard wrong until she heard it echo again- help was finally here. Immediately returning the call she waited about three minutes until she saw a familiar face enter from God knows where.

"Omertà." Vineiro nodded respectfully towards the woman who had saved his ass more than once. Then his eyes scanned the Sashanna. He felt pity because at such a young age, she was exposed to something her parents tried their best for her to avoid.

"No need for formalities Vin. Did you come alone?"

"No, I have-"

The loud creak alerted them of the captors approaching.

"Fanculo. I can't get you out right now because they will know we are here. But I will be back for the both of you. This is my promise." Before Isabelle could retort he was gone.

But Isabelle knew something was about to happen, something dread. They were too late, somebody was about to die and she refused to let that be her child. She quickly looked in the eyes of her child. Memorizing every detail, for it may be her last. Her slender fingers trembled as she caressed the little girl's face. The breathing replica of herself and may be the last heir of the Abbadelli clan. She needed to tell her now.

"I need you to promise mommy something." The child nodded her head vigorously in an attempt to say yes.

"This necklace, always wear it. When you get older we need you to claim something big that daddy and mommy left behind for you. Something that you need to take back. That pendant is the key to achieving that. Never trust anyone but I need you to stay close to Uncle Viniero, he will take you out of here."

"But why mommy? What about you?" The child's green eyes sparked with confusion. A strangled sob escaped the mother's lips. She knew this was too sudden for a child, but this child is the last heir to the Giovanni and Abbadelli clan. Therefore, she prayed for a miracle.

"Promise me Sashanna." The woman was now frantic as she heard the footsteps getting nearer.

"I promise mama."

"Good girl. Mommy loves you, now and forever. Now you remember our secret handshake right?"

"Yes."

"Don't forget it, don't forget us."

"I won't mommy. I love you, please don't leave me." The little girl cried hysterically while embracing her mother.

However, their moment was interrupted.

"How nice." The voice of this man frightened the little girl. She was scared of what he will do to her mother next. "I believe it's time I separate you two."

Isabelle grabbed her daughter firmly while using her other hand to try protect her unborn child.

The man laughed at the woman's desperate action.

"How pathetic, do you think that will protect her? Your family had such an influence, your husband had great power. Yet here you are, please tell me, how does it feel to loose it all Omertà?"

"We gave it all up, so we could live in peace. But people like you just couldn't let us be happy."

"You think that by leaving, it would've been ok? You left us behind like we were nothing to you, we protected you yet when we all needed you the most you left us!"

"So you joined the enemy. What are you trying to achieve? He trusted you! You were famiglia."

"Yet you abandoned us, me."

"We told you to come with us. That is no excuse, you were after something else."

"And I'm about to achieve it."

The venom in his voice sent chills over Isabelle's body. She watched as he pointed the gun at her daughter. The little girl's green eyes were wide with fright as she stared down the dark gun barrel.

"You either come with me or I shoot her. The choice is yours."

"Those weren't options. You know which I'll choose."

She turned to her daughter and kissed her forehead then whispered "Remember your promise. Mommy and daddy loves you."

"No!" The child screamed as she watched her mother leave. Her mother's green eyes held sadness as she looked back one last time.

Irritated, the man raised his gun and shot the little girl in the head. Silencing her completely.

"She was your goddaughter!" Isabelle screamed in pain, as she watched her child die in front of her eyes. She lost everything, this was their fault. All of them, she almost collapsed as she saw the pool of blood surrounding her baby girl. The last heir dead, and she couldn't save her. She felt when the traitor picked her up roughly, then walked away with no care. Her screams of agony echoed louder than a banshee as they moved away from the limp body. She watched in hope for any movement and as the door was about to close she saw it.

Sashanna whimpered in agony. The bullet only grazed the side of her head but yet she was losing blood. As the door came to a close she whimpered "mommy" before closing her eyes.
