                                                               Chapter One

It’s black. Images begin to flash. A full moon and abandoned warehouse. White eyes flashing. Then suddenly the images stop…a disturbing, brutal scene slowly starts to appear. A bloody mess of bodies some ripped into pieces and others past identification.

I was suddenly started awake, and I jumped out of my bed. Breathing heavily, and rapidly, my eyes started to scan my small bedroom. I tried to calm myself. I realize that I had had “that nightmare”. The nightmare had started the first night I had moved to Phoenix, and they’ve last for the past three nights. I’ve been trying to figure out what those flashing images could mean, but I still didn’t have the slightest clue.

Before I tell you anymore, I should tell you who I am. My name is Kurt Kellen. I’m an average nineteen years old, and yes, I still attend high school. Now I know what you must be thinking. He’s nineteen years old and still in high school? Well, the reason why I’m still in high school is because my birthday is always one day behind the last day of school, so I was placed into the year lower then I should have been.

I am an A student, occasionally a B. Since I’ve moved here, I have gained no friends, and I really don’t plan on making any here, since their all like un-evolved apes and psychopaths paths. Word of advice, stay away from this place. It could really turn someone mental. I have never in my life seen more sluts, and wanna-be’s in one area before.

The only reason why I moved to this dump of a town was because my dad got transferred to the Nice ‘N’ Easy in this town. Within the first night alone, we’ve had ten people come to our door to warn us about the myth surrounding the town.

“Five years ago, a little boy went missing. He was kidnapped just like half the children living in the United States. Finally, when the kidnappings stopped, search for the missing boy increased. Unfortunately, he was never found. Since then, it’s been known and said that a creature, believed to be the boy, is his ghost.” said one of the many people that had showed up to tell the myth. She was the type of old lady that most people would assumed lived with mostly cat.

The old lady continued in a haunted voice, “Some people who have seen him have said that he has a ears, and a tail just like an animal would. It is also said that he is very vicious, and will kill anyone who comes near him. It’s said that he guards an abandoned warehouse hidden in the woods, and some people like to believe that that was the very place he was murdered.”

After that visit, my parents started taking the myth a little too literally. I felt like I was the only realistic person who lived in this town.

After being woken up from the nightmare, I rolled over and looked at my clock.

“Huh,” I thought to myself.

I was only 6:30 A.M. I actually had time to get up and get ready for my first day. I slowly stood up from the bed and stretched. Then after I made my bed and headed over to my dresser to pick out some clothes. I chose a form fitting t-shirt, which was covered in blue plaid, and also a regular pair of jeans. I went into my bathroom and changed. When I got out I walked over to my bed and put on my black pair of sneakers.

After that I went to the mirror and inspected myself. I grabbed a comb and combed my messy, light brown hair. When I was finished with that, I walked over to my computer chair and picked up my school bag.

I headed down stairs and pass the kitchen where I could hear my parents talking. They didn’t really care that I was going to school with no breakfast, or that I had even come down from my room. They only cared that I behaved well in public.

I slipped out the front door, and into the bright morning sunshine. If I headed straight for school, I wouldn’t be late, but I wasn’t in the mood to deal with those assholes, and sluts just yet. So I decided to walk around town, and get to know it better.

While I was passing a small bakery, I noticed a patch of forest slowly coming into view. I stared at it for a minute, wondering why these buildings were built so close to that piece of land.

Letting my curiosity get the better of me, I started towards it. Just as I neared the front edge of the woods, my eyes fell to a sign staked into the ground. I moved closer and read it. Danger: Do Not Enter.

I shook my head. This town really went all out, for such a stupid myth. I looked around myself. When I was satisfy that no one was in sight, I slowly crept into the woods, not caring or believing in the myth. What I didn’t know was…that my opinion was all about to change.
