Chapter 12

Katniss’ POV

Once we were standing in front of his room, a tear escaped mom’s eyes, I held her hands tightly in mine, she gave me a look as if asking if I’m ready to do it or not. I took a deep breath and nodded. She softly knocked then opened the door.

Dad turned his face to us, and once his eyes met mine he looked down. He was hooked in an IV. I wanted to run and throw myself in his arms but I was so afraid and mad to do this. I just walked and sat next to his bed as mom sat next to me.

“Hey” mom said softly.

Tears started to form in dad’s eyes “Why are you here?” it came out as a whisper “Why did you come? I don’t deserve any of you, not after everything I did to you. Just unhook me from the IV now and walk away, let me die I don’t deserve any of this please”

I looked at mom who was staring nowhere trying not to cry to be strong for me but I couldn’t take it anymore, I can’t imagine a life without dad even after what he did to us, we are human we do mistakes but the difference is that some regret their mistakes and other don’t and dad seems to regret it bad. I’m sure this is not an act.

I stood up from my chair and sat next to him on his bed and kissed his whole face as I cried. “Please stop” that’s all I could say. He weakly wrapped his arms around me, I rested my head on his chest and tried to calm down.  “I forgive you, please stay with us we need you in our lives. Please dad I can’t imagine a day without you”

“After all I did to you, Katy?”

“Yes dad, we all make mistakes” I sniffed “I miss waking up to you, I miss how you used to treat me, I missed hearing you sing to me but mostly I miss having a family, dad.”

Dad turned to mom “What about you Perrie?”

she bite her lips hard “I miss that too” she sigh “Katy baby can you leave me and dad, we have to sort things out ok?”

I nodded then Walked to her and whispered “But please try, for me and the new baby”  she nodded and kissed my forehead.

I went outside and closed the door after me, I went to sit on the chairs outside his rooms and found already someone waiting for me.

“Hey”

“Hi”

“Can we talk?”

“About?”

“I’m sorry about what happened Katy, I know what I said really hurt you but put yourself in my place”

“I will never be in your place, you know why? Because I trust you and I don’t believe what stupid people say. I thought you knew me better James”
