What happened in Charlottesville makes my blood boil
It was one of the most atrocious things to happen on American soil
What did we fight the World Wars for?
Didn't we defeat them so we wouldn't deal with them anymore?
Shoving against police officers in a disrespectful displayBeating up on college students who walked that way
Circling round vulnerable people like wolves
While the cops stood by like tools.
Their haunting chants still echo in a familiar anti-semitic tune.
"Jew will not replace us."
"Blood and soil blood and soil"
And marching to the beat of an insidious drum
Waving torches of a different culture in a display so sickeningly dumbThey all went marching down.
A young man with dreams and full of hope, Deandre Harris
Came to Charlottesville nowhere near at the end of his rope
Aspiring for hip hop and fame
Nothing could prepare him for the fear and shame.
Nothing could prepare him to be encircled by neo-nazis and beaten senseless.
Nothing could prepare him for that moment of "I'm gonna die here because I'm defenseless."
No one wakes up that day thinking a bunch of guys they don't know are gonna beat them with poles.
But that is white supremacy and this violence is part of its goals.
For the average black man to live in fear
For the average Jew to consistently shed worried tears
That is until there are none of us left.
With poles in hand they struck him down
Left him wounded and bleeding on the ground
Probably would've killed him if not for his friends
And no one wants that to be how their life ends
And in the background could be heard
"Blood and soil, blood and soil"
And they all went marching down.
The most sickening detail of this situation
Is that the attack occurred next to the police station.
Yet the attack was orchestrated by a convicted domestic terrorist
And there was not a single officer present to stop what could've been fatal.
Of course this doesn't surprise me
We've been told by the FBI that the KKK has been in the police force
So we're not surprised when minorities are harrassed and shot of course.
What's surprising is the willingness of the American people to sweep it under the rug
To squash conversation about it like some bothersome bug.
These people that claim we need to hear both sides
When the other side wants my our hides
Are so, so confusing to me.
Doesn't it only take being a decent human being to condemn a nazi?
