Regina felt... odd, when she woke up. Hazy, almost. She knew her body repaired quickly, due to the mutation in her cells, but she kind of liked the drama of her last words being her requesting a fifty from Tony. Also, she quite liked the idea of her friend vandalising her grave. It was appropriote.
as the flames rose to her roman nose, and her walkman started to melt-
"Welcome back, Miss Staves. Your injuries are approximately 75% healed, but it is recommended that you do not use your abilities too much, and unfortunately you will have limited movement in your hands for some time. An initial report shows that you had been very strained, and your brain activity was extreme even after you lost consciousness."
Regina groaned at the sound of the AIs voice echoing through the room, and struggled to push herself up into a sitting position. The high-pitches squealing in her ears was almost unbearable. She rubbed her forehead, blinking a could of times, before reaching for her earpieces on the bedside. "Status report on the team."
"Miss Staves, it is not reccommended-"
"Did I stutter, Teri?" Regina spat out, adjusting the earpiece into her ear, reaching for the other one as her hearing began to focus back in. "No, seriously, I couldn't hear myself speak then."
"No, Miss Staves, you did not stutter. Agent Clint Barton has been taken back from Lokis control and is doing well, the locations of Bruce Banner and Thor are uncertain. Six agents, including Phil Coulson, are deceased. We have no known location on Loki or the Tesseract." Teri reported. Regina sighed, bringing her knees to her chest and squeezing her eyes shut. She had never been close with Coulson, but he was a damn good man. She huffed out a breath and swung her legs over the side of the bed, pushing herself up to stand. She stretched backwards, wincing slightly at her spine cracking, before she made her clothes change from sweats and a shirt into jeans and a shirt.
She tensed, gritting her teeth as she failed to don either the zipper or button on the jeans, giving in after a minute and using her powers to move the metal intead. Her hands didn't have bandages on them anymore, but she could see the faint lined of the cuts on one hand, and the hand that had held onto the glowy thing in the sceptre was scarred completely, harsh red lines reaching down her forearm.
She grabbed a jacket. "Who's where in this place, T?" Regina asked, pressing the button to open her door as the music changed from the room to her earpiece.
"Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, and Maria Hill are on the bridge. Director Fury is receiving damage assessments. Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton are in a secure room in the infirmary, but he is not in a position to speak to anyone right now." Regina thanked her, making her way to the bridge as her music resumed.
bigmouth, bigmouth, bigmouth strikes again
She put the jacket on, her eyes falling back down to her hands as she walked through the hallway. The overly scarred one was a little more gaunt than the cut up one. The cut up one was normal, if a little sore, but she could hardly move her scarred one in any minorly precise way. She shoved both hands in her pockets, the cut up one curling into a fist and the other barely closing enough to stay completely in.
and i've got no right to take my place, in the human r-
"Staves, you're awake. Have you had a full medical?" Maria asked, taking a step forward when Regina walked in. "Should you even be out of bed yet?"
"I'm fine." Regina insisted, taking a seat at the near empty table. "Teri checks those things, and... she gave me an update on everything that's happened." Maria was silent, giving a small nod.
"You had us real scared there, Soldier." Steve said, looking at her from across the table.
Regina lifted her head to look from her lap to him, a small smile gracing her lips. "Criminal." She corrected again. "World renound. Scaring peoples just what I do."
"You put your life on the line. I'd think that's more than being a criminal." Steve assured her.
Regina glanced at Tony, who had his chair turned away form them and seemed deep in thought, before looking back at Steve. "Thanks." She smiled. "And, for the record, I don't think you're just some lab experiment." The door opened and they all looked to it, seeing Fury walk in solemnly. He didn't look at them, absently looking at whatever was in his hands. He sighed, standing in front of the table.
Well, this'll be fun, Regina thought bitterly.
