"WOULD YOU PLEASE GET OFF THE GODDAMN PHONE AND PAY SOME ATTENTION TO YOUR FUCKING FAMILY?" mum shouted up to me. Here we go again I thought to myself, my body tensing as i heard heavy footsteps approaching my bedroom door. Not tonight, not now, please not now. The door slammed against my fragile bedroom wall; revealing my mother, once again, drunk. does this really have to happen, every single night.
"mum...you're drunk.." i choked out. "DO I LOOK LIKE I GIVE A SHIT WHAT YOU THINK?" she yelled at me. its fucked up to be petrified of your own mother, the very person who brought you into this world, gave you the greatest gift you could ask for. Well, truth is, im unwanted, i was a mistake, as i get told every single night. she wasnt alone tonight. there was a strange man with her. who's he? why is he with her? is tonight going to be even worse than every other night. The entirity of my body began to shake uncontrollably as the pair of menacing figures approached my bedside. I started to curl myself up into a ball in preparation for tonights beatings.
"HEY WHAT DO YOU THINK YOURE DOING?" she screamed down my neck, too scared to say anything, i tightened further into a tiny ball, only muffled sobbings to be heard. "i think you should leave for a while miranda, i can handle this by myself, besides you need to calm down a little." i heard the man say softly. my mothers enraged footsteps became gradually quieter as she trapsed down the stairs.
"hey sweetheart" he cooed, stroking my back, i flinched expecting to be hit a numerous amount of times pretty soon. "heey, calm down, im not here to hurt you!" hes not here to hurt me?, what else would anyone want with me?, im worthless, i get told it enough, and the scars in my head can prove it.
"in fact, i think you are indescribeably beautiful, but dont let your mother hear me say that." he whispered softly.
Who is he? why does he think im beautiful, im covered in bruises and scars.
