"Please leave a message after t-" He hung up the phone for what felt like the 100th time.
"I can't believe this." He threw his phone to the passenger seat as Naruto had left due to a problem at home.
"Can't believe what, papa?" The girl asked as she was struggling for the seatbelt to click.
Sasuke grabbed the belt and did it for her.
"Papa can't believe that mama didn't tell him that they had a child." He sounded angry which frightened her.
"O-Oh." She stuttered which reminded him of Hinata.
He turned the key to the car as they drove away from the hospital.
"Ah, I see you still have your visitor, Mr. Uchiha." The old woman at the lobby desk smiled.
"Yup and by the looks of it, it looks like she isn't going away anytime soon." He whispered to her.
They walked back into the elevator where Hitomi reached out to grab his hand.
He pulled away. "You're too old for me to hold your hand." He said.
"But-" She said sadly but then put her hand down as she held onto the railing instead.
They walked back into the apartment as he jammed the keys into the door.
He looked at the clock: 12:37 AM
He had work in the morning and no child was going to change that.
"Alright kid, you're sleeping on the couch and if you need anything please hesitate to call." He said as he left a blanket for her and walked away.
"Can you read me-" She said holding up her book but was only greeted by a door shut to her face.
She held her book to her chest as she walked away to the empty cold couch.
It was dark.
There could be monsters.
Sasuke finally relaxed in his bed but then suddenly he heard his phone beep.
He groaned but checked it anyway.
Naruto: iMessage
He unlocked his phone.
I hope you're not taking your anger out on the kid. She really needs you right now.
He sighed and threw his phone on the other side of the bed.
Following that he heard a soft knock at the door.
"Papa." He heard but pretended to sleep.
"Papa." She sounded scared.
A bit worried, he took off the blanket and walked towards the door.
His hand reached for the door knob but then stopped.
"Papa." She was now crying as the scary monster was coming closer.
He opened the door only for her to hug his legs again.
"I don't wanna sleep with the monster, I want to sleep with you." She cried.
Suddenly remembering something he turned on the lights.
"Niko." He called out.
In walked a black & white cat with blue eyes as it headed towards Sasuke.
"I forgot to tell you, I have a cat." He said as she let go of his legs and turned around.
She wiped her eyes as she smiled.
"It's not a monster?" She headed towards the cat.
"Trust me, if there were I wouldn't live here." He said.
He couldn't resist the adorable scene happening in front of him. She was rubbing the cat's stomach as surprisingly it had not scratched her like it did to him so many times.
He looked at the cat with eyes of betrayal but then sighed.
"So now that there's no monster, can you go to sleep now? I have work in the morning." He said.
Suddenly the girl had fallen asleep on the floor. He quickly ran to her to see if she was okay.
1:00 AM, no wonder she's tired.
He carried her to the couch.
Maybe just tonight.
We'll sleep together.
