Innocent Souls

Chapter 6

Anna had great sorrow in her eyes that tears nearly feel "What's wrong sister?" Life asked in her head. Life can feel Anna's emotions when they are strong but she can not read her sister mind unless Anna allows it, she also watches Anna to make sure she was safe even though no one could hurt her, she always worried. Theresa sat up seeing the sadness in her eyes "what's wrong uhh..?" Anna noticed that she did not give her name "It's Anna" she said with a weak smile. With a big sigh Theresa leaned in close so she wont miss out on any words that Anna had to say. "It was your wedding day with Patrick when the King took you correct?" Anna asked. Theresa eyes opened wide with shock "How do you even know?" Theresa asked with her mouth gaped open. Anna shifted uncomfortably "Well..uh..you see." "Spit it out"Life said with anticipation. Anna cleared her throat and took a deep breath "Well there are many things in this world that the gods can't even explain" she started. "In this case when the goddess of Life created the human souls one thing she never added to them was soulmates. Souls started to match and within every life they have they keep finding on and other over and over again." Anna could see that Theresa was hanging onto everywhere before she continued. "You and Patrick where soulmates fated to be with each other. How ever you both didn't and..." Anna hesitated to finish. "And what?" both Theresa and Life said in unison. "A week after your wedding he was found dead in the forest with his throat slit" Anna sadly said. The news of her beloved made move her knees you her chin and she cried. Anna moved to her and rapped her armed around her as she cried. Life then appeared and so she could be there for Theresa and placed a had on her sisters back. 

After a little while Theresa's tears slowed down "Why tell me this?" she sob. Anna stood up letting her sister take her place and Theresa jumped for she did not even notice her come in. Anna took in a big breath "Have you had your flow recently?" Theresa just shook her head for the words did not come out of her mouth. "You are pregnant and that is why you feel ill, however there is a bigger issue." Anna ran her fingers through her hair and continued "Something both me and my sister have not seen before is what happens when the soulmates bond have been broken." Theresa looked at both sister "how would you know that its not witches can see the whole world?" she asked with anger. Life sighed while holding her "We are not witched child we are goddesses." Anna looked at her sister with disbelieve that her sister just told a mortal no a human that they are goddesses. Theresa looked dumbfounded "goddesses" she whispered. Anna let out an annoyed grunt "Yes my sister is the Goddess of Life but your people caller her mother nature, I am the goddess of Death. I am the only one that can see human souls that lie in the bodies of the living, my sister just put them there while I will take them out." Theresa was sitting there with her mouth wide open and her eyes scared. Anna sighed "don't worry its not your time yet, and yes I help people live by healing them only because I can see that they still can have time to live." Then she pointed at Theresa with a serious look "however your soul is growing weak and that's because you have lost your soulmate, its like the saying dying of a broken heart." Anna than sat in front of Theresa and grabbed both of her hands "You wont make it through your pregnancy." Theresa gulped at her words "I-I want to have this child" she managed to say. 

After a while of pondering and think Anna looked at her sister with determination. "I maybe able to stall it till you give birth but that means I need to stay with you" Anna finally said after a long wait. Theresa only could nod at Anna with sadness. Then it dawned on Anna there was a great shift in balance she was half of the problem she had to find the other reason. "How long has Claude worked with the King?" Anna asked as she was tapping her chin with her index finger. Theresa looked confused at the question "I heard he started to work as Richard adviser when he was crowned King." The sisters looked at each other with great concern "This King has been the only King that has been cruel and greedy. More people had died when he started to rule" Anna noted. Theresa looked between the sisters and had a thought "I have a question if you stay with me to keep me alive then what about all those who die?" she asked Anna. Anna looked at her and smiled sweetly "over the time people have not respected their life that was given and as a punishment I took them under my wing and they became.. Well my minions."  Theresa nodded at Anna's answer and though of another question "I thought you would look different too" she looked Anna with wonder. Anna laughed at Theresa question "did you think I looked like this" in a matter of second Anna form changed her skin went transparent where all you could see was a skeleton and her dress became a black robe and a hood covered her head. With a wave of her bony hand her scythe appeared with black smoke, this made Theresa shiver in fear but her face looked amazed. Anna giggled at her reaction and changed back to her human look she always wore. "So you are goddess" Theresa said with a glee. Both Life and Anna giggled at her wonder and then they heard foot steps walk back down the hall way. Life disappeared with small smile to her sister and Theresa went stiff and began to shake."Don't worry I will do the talking, and please don't tell anyone our secret" Anna said placing her index finger to her lips and did a wink.

The King burst into the room "what is taking so long" he shouted. Anna bowed as he walked straight passed her. His eyes grew angry when he saw his wife eyes red and puffy "what happened?" Anna looked at him and with worry in her eyes "Congratulations your majesty the Queen is pregnant with you child" Anna started. The King looked like the happiest man in the world when Anna cleared her throat "however the Queen has a very weak body and will not survive this pregnancy." Anna could see the sorrow in his eyes as she notice he stopped breathing at the thought. "I can keep her alive till that day, I have an ability to delay her death till she gives birth" Anna added. The King looked at his Queen with great sorrow in his eyes the thought of him losing her hurt. He looked at Anna with the hope he gets to spend time with her as much as possible "why can't you keep her alive after she gives birth?" he added. Anna sighed with sorrow "It takes a lot of energy to give birth for a woman and one as weak as her it will take her life, you can never stop ones death when its there time" Anna said looking at the ground. "Fine you will stay here and take care of her don't ever leave her side" the said the King as he went to comfort his Queen.
