PROLOGUE

Her hands trembled as she picked up the charred remains that was the third floor of her family's five story mansion.

Tears stung at the corners of her eyes, threatening to pour down once more from what used to be her perfect makeup covered doll face. Kammie could scarcely breathe as she walked through the barely standing corridor that was the ballroom on the first floor of the house.

Her legs shook as she cautiously avoided the seared rubble, her eyes making out objects in the darkness, but her wolf mind protected her from the real images. "How..How could I have let this happen...," She stuttered. Kammie knew she should have been there to protect the last of what was her extensive and wealthy people.

She dropped to her knees as she noticed a small twinkling object across the room...her younger sister's silver butterfly hair clip.
