War is no solution

It was night time over Coninsgby, not a single light was glowing, everyone was asleep and the air traffic control tower had been shut off as flights were grounded for the night, however, two were not asleep, Dusty and Ember were both wide awake.
"Dusty, I know we shouldn't but I really want to fly, I don't want to be stuck on the ground like this, we'll probably get told off by Ben or something but I don't care,"  Ember whispered.
Dusty looked over at her, "I don't know, what if we get spotted or put in real danger?"
Ember looked at him with a sort of depressed look.
Dusty looked to the runway outside the window, it wasn't too far away, they would be able to roll out silently and take off.
"Fine but be quiet," Dusty said.
Ember nodded, Dusty rolled over to the hanger door and opened it with his wing as quietly as he could, the hanger door creaked as it opened but it didn't seem to alert anyone, the base was still as quiet as it ever had been.
Dusty and Ember looked around making sure it was clear, it was quite eerie seeing the shadows of the distant Typhoons with the intake covers blowing in the wind, Dusty and Ember managed to roll to the runway without being caught, they both started their engines as quietly as they could.
Dusty asked Ember one final time, "Ember, Are you really sure you want to do this."
"Yes, I am." Ember nodded.
Dusty opened his throttle to the minimal torque it needed to take off to create less noise as possible, Ember did the same and with that, they were in the air.

------
Ben and Jeremy were sleeping in their dorms until distant propellor like sounds woke them up.
Ben muttered tiredly, "Why are the cadets being trained at 4 AM in the morning on a Saturday?"
Ben realised what he just said, The air force never do training at this time of night and it was not just one it was two, Ben looked out of his window to see an orange plane and a silver plane climb away from the runway.
"Oooooh shiiiiiii--"
Ben waked Jeremy up.
"JEREMY WAKE YOUR FAT ASS UP!"
Jeremy muttered, "I can....sleep late dad.....it's not......time for school......today......can I.....have......a bacon....sand-"
Ben slapped him hard in the face.
Jeremy shouted, "AH, DUDE WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FO-"
Ben cut him off, "DUSTY AND EMBER ARE BOTH IN THE DAMN AIR, ON THEIR OWN."
Jeremy's eyes widened, "We need to get them back here before they get themselves in danger."
"NO SHIT SHERLOCK" Ben was furious, he felt almost as if he wanted to beat the bolts out of Dusty AND Ember (see what I did there).
Ben ran into the ATC tower to alert the radiomen.
"What is D7 and E9's position?"
One of the radar men got the radar up on screen and pointed to the two dots on the radar.
Jeremy was preparing the two Typhoons without any ground crew, Ben ran over to his Typhoon and quickly fired it up along with Jeremy.
"Coningsby tower to Schorcher 1 and 2 be advised, Met office has issued a red warning for snow and storms in the northeast."
Ben and Jeremy got clearance from the tower and took off as fast as they could heading the same direction as Dusty and Ember went.
----------------
Ember was flying alongside Dusty.
Dusty looked at Ember and asked, "Why did you really want to go flying?"
Ember narrowed her eyes slightly, "I just wanted to do what I am meant to do, Just fly and be who I am, not be confined to a hanger."
Dusty could tell there was more to why she wanted to fly, "There's another reason isn't there?"
Ember sighed, "Look, I just want, Some time.......With you, Just me and you, I am so sick of this world, I don't want to be here, sure the two people we met are nice and friendly to us, but this isn't where I want to be."
Dusty didn't know what to say, in a way he felt dissapointed in himself, he didn't feel like he was making Ember happy.
"Ember, I'm sorry, it's my fault we're in this mess, If I haden't asked you to come flying with me that day before we ended up here, it would of been just me who got this."
Ember looked at Dusty worringly, "What....no, it isn't your fault this happened, please don't blame yourself, I would rather be here with you than be back at home without you."
Dusty slightly blushed from that comment, Dusty knew he would remember that comment for a very long time.
The two relaxed planes flew lightly above the clouds, still heading to wherever they were going.
Just as they were about to turn back a light above them dazzeled them, they could not figure out what was going on.
---------------
Ben and Jeremy were about ten minutes away from reaching Dusty and Ember.
Ben whacked his control panel in anger, "Why the hell must they do this? Do they realise how much trouble they could get themselves into, I swear if I get my hands on them--"
Jeremy laughed slightly.
"Ben, you're literally acting like your the father of them or something, do you really think you are a father of them or something?"
Ben realised that he had been acting a little like a father and he was slightly embarrased.
"What---no, I just want them to be safe, they don't belong here and I don't want to feel responsible if anything happens to them, I think I'm just.....paranoid."
Jeremy looked at his radar,
"Well, we're almost there, Ben, Just don't have a go at them I am pretty sure they have a good reason for why they went flying, to be honest I can't really blame them, they have been confined to the ground a lot and like us they probably need to fly just like how we need to socialise, that's probably how life works for them, so please try to understand their situation."
Ben considired it, "Fine." he replied.
They had reached to where Dusty and Ember were, or at least where they were just a second ago on radar.
"Jeremy, Are you sure this is right?"
Jeremy looked down at his radar.
"Yeah, this is definetly the ri---, wait a minute they are not on the radar."
Ben looked around to see if he could find anything but couldn't see anything.
Jeremy's eyes widened.
"Ben look down there in that field."
Ben rolled his Typhoon to the right to get a better look, what he saw haunted him for a second, Dusty and Ember were both dented wrecks on the ground, both pouring with smoke and twelve Russian jeeps closing on them....fast.
