It was a dazzling night, the moon out and shining on every lake near this palace. The light bounced off the water and seemed to create a spotlight where ever he went. the moon light and people helplessly following him, as i did the same. He looked like a movie star with his clean with grey tuxedo fitting his shoulders perfectly. the black tie restlessly lying on his chest how i wish it was me.
"Hello, Jake." I said calmly trying not to get lost in his wide eyes.
"Richard, i'm so glad you made it." He replied to he giving me a friendly hug. I rested my head on his chest for a split second until he pulled away.
"Please, Rich." I said fixing my tuxedo nervously. Even in my finest cloths i felt bare around him.
"I would feel so improper, i wouldn't want to make you feel uncomfortable." he rambled. My gaze just navigated through his lips. I nodded my head incapable to respond to his words. "Anyway, enjoying yourself?" he said snapping me back to reality.
"Um- oh yes.. Of course." i said turning away and trying to hide my blush.
"Are you hiding something from me?" He asked out of nowhere. I didn't know what he meant by that.
"What would I, me, be hiding?" I replied nervously not knowing what to do with my hands, so i shoved them in my pocket.
"Richard Goranski, we have been friends for how long? Trust me when I say your a bad lier." He said raising his eyebrow and smiling. He seemed as if he was mocking me.
"Well, Jake Dillinger. Im getting a drink. Excuse me." I said drawing myself out from his aura and rushing towards the bathroom. I washed off my hands and looked myself at the mirror. "What the hell have you done to me Dillinger?" i asked myself in the mirror hoping an answer would appear.

I walked across the patio, the moon out from it's dark shadow and it shone on us. How does it seem the whole universe revolves around one person, and they just not even know? I continued with my stride and greeted everyone trying to be the best host. It was hard to try and care about all these guests when all my intentions are already set on one person. I found myself with rich standing in front of me. He said hello and i replied. It was really a delightful conversation, thought all our conversations seem to be a change from all the bland ones I have with random strangers who attend my receptions.
He said he left to get a drink yet somehow i highly doubt that. Especially considering the beverages aren't near the bathrooms. They're actually on the separate side of them, on the dining patio. I let him be, for now at least. He is always so bashful, he is never afraid to speak out but most times it seems as if he regrets as soon as he speaks up to anyone. Which is why I wonder why he would keep something from me? I don't understand why really I admire his open mind and words. I wish he knew, but i'm not like him in the slightest.

I left the restrooms. Hopefully before Jake realized I went to hide in a bathroom rather then actually getting a drink. I loosened my tie, finding it hard to breathe with Jakes lingering cologne on my cloths. Why is he so, perfect. He claims we are friends but he is like an idolized super star. Why he is still my friend blows my mind. Why I like him so is also out of my mind. I never had a positive male role model in my life and when one finally appears he's god like and I have a crush on him. Jakes a great person and I know the possibilities of him liking me back is few. He's nice but he wouldn't love someone out of pity, its not in his morals. I understand why. Which is why I find it best to keep my standing with him neutral. I was at the beverage bar and made myself a glass of water. I saw Jake near by, but i decided to keep quiet. I don't feel worth his time, i'm not very special. Friends aren't supposed to make you feel like this. Why does he always think i'm his friend? We barely talk anymore... Maybe he knows and he just likes dragging my hopes out like a hook and line. Yet i just keep following. He makes me so angry.

Rich, not being able to hold his irritation in, tapped on Jakes shoulder and when he turned around he disappeared into the crowd behind him. He was tried of feeling like he needed Jakes approval, so instead of chasing Jake he made Jake chase him.
"Rich?" Jake asked excusing himself from his other conversation.
"Jakey." Rich called out from in front of Jake. Jake whipped his head forward and just saw gossiping women or men sipping on their beer and catching up.
"Goranski, stop playing these games." Jake demanded finally catching onto Richs game. He walked around and checked behind the beverage bar. The lack of light didn't help Jake find Rich either, there were only a few lanterns hung up from tree to tree and the moons light.
"But it's so much fun seeing you helpless." Rich teased Jake as he then felt a tug on his shoulder. "Darn, what a quick game." He said standing up in front of Jake.
"Hide and go seek? Really?" Jake said laughing at him and his still childish ways.
"I mean tag could disrupt your guests or ruin the suits and this was not cheap my friend." Rich said looking down at his tux, he patted himself clearing off the dirt that was on his legs since he was sitting behind one of the tables that was out on the patio. Jake just smiled. Rich began to ramble but Jake zoned out hearing one of his favorite songs starts to play on the speakers near the dance patio. He reached his hand out towards Rich.
"What, do you want a high-five?" Rich asked hesitant to take his hand.
"May I have this dance with you?" Jake asked calmly, anxiously waiting for response, the music still softly playing.
"W-What? I mean why?" with that Jake took Rich's hand in his hand, Rich had little to no resistance and just let himself be moved in Jakes arms. "This a cheese song." Rich said acting like he didn't enjoy dancing with Jake.
"Its a wonderful song." Jake replied calmly and swayed with Rich in his arms. Rich just shyly smiled and let Jake move him, as if he was unable to by himself.
"Do you always dance at random times or-?"Rich asked trying to break this, what he felt awkward silence.
"Nope. Guess you're special, Rich." He said looking down at Richs face, which he couldn't see. His face was just tucked in Jakes chest.
"Lucky me." Rich said finally looking up. "So are we done now? I think the songs over..." Rich said not really wanting to pull away from him.
"Only if you want it to be over." Jake replied holding Richs hand tighter. This made Rich heart beat fast.
"Jake Dillinger, are you flirting with me?" Rich whisper shouted smiling.
Jake just let go of Richs hand. "Was I? I'm sorry it was do obvious." Jake replied.
"No I mean-... shall you get us some drinks then?" Rich said trying to avoid an awkward event. Jake just nodded and went to the cocktail bar. Rich just waited for Jake to get far enough and bolted towards the bathroom. He washed his hands again and tried to wipe the blush off his face when suddenly Jake came in. Rich jumped and backed up towards the wall. "H-Hello, Jake. Bathroom break, yeah?" He said wiping his face off with his sleeve. Jake just smiled and walked up next to him.
"I got your drink." He said handing him a unopened beer. "I thought you'd be in here again."
"Yeah? Thank you for the beer." Rich replied looking away from Jake.
"Do you like me?" Jake asked blatantly. He refused to say anything. Rich just slid down against the wall and popped open the beer. Also refusing to speak. Jake just slid down beside him. "So?"
Rich took a long sip of his drink. "I had planned to have been a lot more drunk when you ask me this." Rich said smiling at the ground. "Why did you invite me here?" Rich asked voice cracking in the slightest ways.
"So you like me?" Jake asked still hooked on that question.
"Yeah. So? Why did you invite me." Rich said taking another sip hoping he'll get drunk quicker.
"Your my friend, Rich." he said rubbing his shoulder.
"No... people like me aren't friends with people like you. Do you just enjoy dragging me along like this?" Rich said looking up at Jake. His eyes watered. Jake pulled his hand away. He didn't know how to feel about himself, or for Rich at that matter.
"N-No." He replied hesitantly. He never thought he was hurting Rich, he just liked the way he felt around him. With Jake being so popular making friends was hard to do. Rich never treated Jake differently or like some God like everyone else. They hung around like normal people and that's something Jake couldn't do often with other people. "I'm sorry if it seemed like i did this to you on purpose, Rich. I'll stop." He said getting up and attending back to his party. Rich sat there loss of words. No explanation on what he meant. But he didn't stop him, because one thing Rich hated more than Jake giving him false hopes was him not being happy. And rich as sure that Jake was happy at the thought of leaving him behind in a bathroom at his own party. So he didn't try and protest.
