(Disclaimer: there is underaged drinking in this chapter. I am not encouraging it by any means, nor am I implying that Red drinks underaged)

Chapter 6

I held tightly to Scotty's hand as we stood outside of Red's hotel room. I could hear all the voices inside of olympians I did not know. Scotty reached up and knocked three times on the wooden door.
"I'll get it," I hear someone yell, a slight slur in their words. I looked  up at Scotty, he was smiling.
"Do you think they're drunk?" I asked with a laugh.
"That's Mark-" he's cut off by the door as it opened.
"Mark McMorris," said a tall dark haired boy with a backwards hat on, gesturing for us to come inside. I recognized him to be the bronze medalist from the slopestyle. Scotty led me into the hotel room, which was filled with other snowboarders that I didn't know. We walked over to a group of them that included Red, Shaun, the dark haired boy that let us in, and a couple others that I didn't recognize.
"Hey! Scotty! How's it going bro?" one of the ones I don't recognize said  as he pulled Scotty into a hug. Judging by the way he was talking and his over-confident manner, he was already drunk. Great.
"Pretty good, Craig," Scotty said calmly. He moved his arm so that it was around my waist, pulling me closer to his side. Red looked at Scotty and I with a puzzled expression. Why did I feel bad? Red was just my friend and I really liked Scotty, this is what I wanted. Besides, Red and Hailey were pretty much a thing, right? As if on queue, Hailey walked up behind Red and leaned her head on his shoulder. He turned and looked at her, a smile cracking his lips. I looked away, joining into Scotty and Craig's conversation. At some point in the last thirty seconds, someone had handed Scotty a beer, which he was now sipping from as he talked. I felt something cold tap against my shoulder, turning towards it, I realized it was Mark handing me my own beer.
"Oh, no thanks I'm not 21 yet," I said.
"Oh sweetheart, you're in Korea, you're legal. Take it and have some fun," he replied with a wink. I grabbed the bottle and took a sip, the liquid burning as I swallowed it. I grimaced, but took another sip anyways. Mark let out a loud, obnoxious cheer and patted me on the shoulder. Scotty turned around towards me, his eyes bulging when he saw the bottle in my hand.
"Relax, babe. I'm legal here. Let's just have some fun tonight," I told him with a smirk on my lips.
"Have some fun, huh?" He questioned, his dirty thoughts projected on his face.
"Not the type of fun you're thinking, James," I replied as I punched him on the shoulder. He rubbed the spot I hit, pretending it hurt.
"Hey, hey, hey, no domestic abuse here people," Shaun chimed in as he did so. I just laughed and then proceeded to punch Shaun just as I had Scotty.
"Oh you'll pay for that, Atwood," Shaun joked before turning and walking away.
Scotty and I continued to talk to some other snowboarders, He introduced me as his girlfriend to all of them, the feeling it gave me was one that I could get used to. We put back a few more beers as the night went on, soon enough a buzz had begun to fill my body. I felt great, I felt fearless.
Around 10, Mark suggested we play truth or dare. By this point, nearly everyone was trashed, so even though the game was a little childish, we agreed.
"Red, truth or dare?" Shaun asked.
           "Uh, dare," he slurred.
"Hmmm. Okay I dare you to kiss the most beautiful girl in the room," Shaun spoke drunkenly. I was expecting him to kiss Hailey, but before I could process his actions, Red's lips were on mine. Subconsciously, I kissed him back. After a couple seconds, I finally realized what was happening and hastily pushed him off of me. Heat rushed to my cheeks and I wanted nothing more than to leave. I had a boyfriend, hell he was sitting right next to me. What had I just done? The look on Scotty's face was a mix between shock, pure anger, and sadness. I wanted to cry.
"Uhhh okay," Craig said, clapping his hands. The room was silent, definitely the most awkward situation I'd ever been in. Scotty stood up and started walking to the door, I got up and followed him. My steps were wobbly, but eventually I caught up to him. He grabbed my arm and pulled me into the hallway.
"Rowan, what the hell was that?" he asked, trying to keep his voice down. I couldn't hold back my emotions any longer, and I just started crying.
"I-I don't know. He-he just started kissing me and I started kissing back before I really realized what was going on and now I feel bad because I really like you and you're my boyfriend and I don't know what that was and I'm so sorry Scotty please don't be mad at me I'm sorry I'm so so sorry" I rushed out. His face remained harsh for a couple of seconds before he ran his hand through his hair like he did when he got stressed. I could tell he was debating whether or not to forgive me. I honestly wasn't expecting him to, but he opened his arms and pulled me into a hug. I rested my head in the crook of his shoulder and cried. We stood just like that for a few minutes. It felt safe.
We walked back into Red's room to gather our things and head out. As we opened the door, we were greeted by Red and Hailey making out, along with Mark and some blonde that I didn't know. Everyone else was just drinking and talking. We said our goodbyes and walked back into the hallway.
"Do you want to go to my room? It might be quieter?" Scotty asked. He was hardly drunk, so his judgement was by far better than mine (I was a little buzzed, I guess you could say).
"Yeah sure," I responded. My eyelids were heavy and I just wanted to go to bed and forget about tonight's events. I leaned on Scotty's arm as he walked me towards the elevator. We walked into it and he pressed the button for the fourth floor, the elevator began its descent and I just stared at my boyfriend.
"Whatcha looking at Ro?" He asked when he noticed me looking at him.
"I don't deserve you," I replied. He just laughed and lead me out of the elevator when the doors open.
"That's nonsense, it must be the alcohol talking. Let's get you to bed babe," he genuinely said. We walked up to his room, he slid the key card in and opened the door to reveal a spotless room.
"I thought you said your room was messy?" I asked.
"Housekeeping must have came," he responded. I yawned and walked over to one of the beds, curling up on top of the covers. I moved around for a couple minutes before decided that I couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep in what I was wearing.
       "Hey Scotty?" I quietly asked.
        "Yeah?"
"Do you, uh, maybe have something I could sleep in?"
"Yeah. I'll get you something," he said as he moved over to his suitcase, pulling out a black and grey crew neck sweatshirt.
"It'll be big on you but I think big sweatshirts are comfy anyways," he said.
"Thanks, Scotty," I said as I walked into the bathroom to change. The sweatshirt was huge. I practically swam in it, but he was right. It was so comfortable. I walked out and crawled into one of the beds, curling into the covers and closing my eyes. For fifteen minutes I tried to fall asleep but I couldn't. I got up and went to get a glass of water.
"Babe, you okay?" Scotty asked, his voice groggy as if I had just woken him up.
        "Yeah I'm fine, I just can't sleep," I responded.
"Okay. If you need anything just let me know,"
"Okay," I responded as I crawled back into bed. I laid there, still not able to sleep.
"Scotty?" I whispered, unsure if he was awake or not.
        "Hm?" he mumbled.
"Can I sleep with you?" I awkwardly questioned.
"Of course," he said as he scooted over in his bed, lifting the covers so I could move in beside him. I laid down beside him and he quickly pulled me closer. I laid my head against his bare chest and listened to his heart beat. He laced his arms around my waist and within two minutes, his rhythmic heartbeat and safe grip had lulled me to sleep.

(Red's POV)
"I can't believe I kissed her, Hails," I said. I had dwelling on the kiss since she pushed me off her. She had a boyfriend, hell he was sitting right next to her. What did I do? It had been a couple hours since the party ended and Hailey and I had just finished cleaning up the mess everyone had made.
"Yeah, I can't either," she trailed off. What was that supposed to mean? "Red there's something I think I should tell you," she continued.
"Uh, what?" I asked, my heartbeat quickening in confusion and nervousness.
"I've had feelings for you. For like a really long time. When you kissed me tonight,
wasn't sure what to think of it, but in the moment it made me so happy. If you're still stuck on Rowan, who I mind you has a boyfriend now, I need you to let me know. I need to get over it if you are," Hailey said. I stood there, shocked at what she had just said. I turned her words over in my mind for a moment before I replied.
"Hailey, I'm not still stuck on her. I'm just shocked at what I did tonight is all. Now get over here and go to sleep, we have a flight to catch tomorrow morning," I spoke. She just smiled and walked over to my bed, crawling under the covers beside me. She buried her head into my shoulder, I put my chin on top of her head and wrapped my arms around her back.

Rowan had a boyfriend. I needed to move on.

Another one up! I kind of like this one. I apologize for this story being such a slowwwww burn between Red and Rowan (then again, I'm really not sorry), but things will start to speed up with them here soon. My next chapter is probably going to be a 6 mos- a year time skip, just because I have to cover four years in this story. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get it up because I have a big trip this week for school that I leave for in a couple days so I have to get ready for that.

As always, I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for 950!!!
