She wasted no time throwing her sobbing frame at him behind the door. Startled and concerned he wrapped his arms around her while hers entwined themselves around his neck. Feeling him this close to her again after so long brought more tears to her eyes, for the first time in three years being in his arms and surrounded by his woodsy scent her heart felt at home, she felt safe.

He’d never been this angry, he knew exactly why she was crying, clinging to him like he was her life support. Burying his face in her hair he whispered soothing words in her ear, stroking her silk hair while she cried into his chest. He couldn’t count the times he wished they were in this position, but he would trade everything he had not to see her cry a tear.

“I-I’m s-sor-ry”, she said pulling back from his hold; she could feel his gaze burning through her as she walked in to the house. Looking up she caught his gaze, her heart clenched in her chest tightly in her chest knowing that he had sat across from her instead of with her. A tear escaped her eyes as she spoke, “Why? Why did you shut me off like that?”

He scoffed, “Should I have been happy that the girl I love has moved on with some other guy? Do you know what it was like to wait and wait for your letters only for them to be full of you talking about someone else?”

A dry chuckle escaped her mouth, “What and you think it was easy for me? To have the guy I loved in constant danger, leaving for years at a time? Not knowing if you will ever come back, not knowing where you were? You were everything to me and you walked away every time!” Tears were now flowing down her face; his eyes were full of hurt, guilt, love and betrayal.

“I-I didn’t-“He started but she cut him off.

“-care? Yeah well I found that one out on my own.”

“NO! Gosh…. Look at me!” He exclaimed keeping her eyes to the floor she shook her head. Sighing he kneeled in front of her, guiding her chin up he searched her eyes and his heart broke at what he saw. He saw betrayal, hurt, pain, uncertainty and love?

“No of course I care, I’ve always cared. I just didn’t know that you felt that way about me.” He said softly caressing her face.

“I’m sorry! I just had to get out of here after everything with my parents and you, I-I just couldn’t focus on anything…”

“I have always been there for you, why didn’t you trust me?” she replied tears rolling down her cheeks. Using his thumbs he brushed away her tears.

“Because I loved you too much to see you walk away from me.” He said searching her eyes desperately. More tears washed down her cheeks, seeing the raw honesty and love in his eyes. Giving up on words she closed the space between them pressing her lips to his, the kiss was gentle and soft and so full of love that it made her breath catch in her throat.  His tongue licked her bottom lip asking for entrance, opening her mouth she gave him access. A moan escaped her throat at the feeling of him massaging and sucking her tongue with his. Grabbing her hips he positioned her so that she was now straddling him. Her arms found their way around his neck, running her fingers through his soft hair, tugging at the ends, earning a groan from him. He broke the kiss, leaning his head against hers. They were both breathing heavy, closing her eyes she tried to steady her breathing, she could feel his hands rubbing up and down her sides making her body burn. His eyes traced her features.

“I love you”, he whispered tilting her head so he could brush his lips against hers.
