Everything was a blur when she opened her eyes to see light filtering through her curtains, she sighed trying to move but found that she was stuck. Two strong tan arms were locked around her waist, a hard bare chest was pushed against her back and her legs were intertwined with his. Flashes of last night came back to her and she found herself smiling knowing that she was in the arms of the man she loved.
Turning in his arms she studied his face, tan smooth skin, thick eyelashes and the softest pink lips, trailing her fingers she traced his strong jaw line and the slight stubble on his chin. He watched her as she traced his features loving the spark that shined in her eyes , she reminded him of a little kid in a candy store. Chuckling from the thought he watched the shocked expression and bright blush that made its way to her cheeks. They stayed like that for a while just in each other’s embrace, until a sudden banging from the door broke them out of their trance.
“Stay here.” He whispered brushing his lips against hers for the last time before unwrapping their legs and climbing out of the bed. Sighing she watched his muscles tense as he walked out of the room, throwing a shit over his head. With eyes closed she almost drifted back off until loud shouts startled her awake.
“WHERE IS SHE!” Colour drained from her face when she realised who that voice belonged to.
“SOPHIE! GET OUT HERE NOW!” flinching at his voice she hurried to get changed but her hands were shaking so bad that doing anything was becoming a difficult task. Finally making it out into the hall she saw a fist coming towards her closing her eyes she waited for the impact, but it never came. Opening her eyes she saw Jace’s fist caught in Drew’s, she had never seen him so furious in her life.
“You Will NEVER EVER Lay a Hand on Her Again!” Drew gritted out through his teeth.
“I’ll DO WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT WITH HER!” Jace barely got to finish his sentence before Drew smashed his fist into his jaw. Grabbing the phone she calls the police giving them the address trying to think clearly.
It felt like hours till sirens could be heard, slowly getting louder before the door was bashed down and police were filling the house like ants to a nest. By this time Drew had Jace up against the wall, before they were ripped off each other. Tears pricked her eyes when she saw Drew; he had blood on his shirt, a split lip and eyebrow as well as a bruised cheek and torn up knuckles.
It was late afternoon by the time that their statements had gone through and much to her dispute a restraining order was placed upon Jace along with charges of abuse. The drive back to Drew’s house was silent, but she didn’t mind because she knew they both needed time to adjust after what happened. She would never forget the pain that was in his eyes when she gave her statement about Jace, the way he held her so tightly afterwards.
Looking around she realised they were already there; silently she followed Drew through the door to the couches. Running her eyes over him she saw his arms tense and jaw was clenched, turning his head to face her she flinched at the look of hurt, anger and pain that were on full display.
“Why? Why didn’t you tell somebody, tell me?” Hurt and anger coated every word, his stare was so intense she couldn’t help but look away.
“I’m sorry, I just couldn’t… it was hard enough to even try to send you a letter, imagine if I tried to tell you about him?” She felt a tear roll down her cheek as she focused her eyes on her hands trying to stop the tears.
“Shhh. I’m sorry I just… I should have been here; if I was then none of this would’ve happened!” He ran his hand roughly through his hair, looking anywhere but at her.
“Hey! Don’t you dare blame yourself!” standing up she turned his face to hers, placing a soft kiss on his lips. Grabbing her hips he deepened the kiss before a sudden ringing blared from Drew’s back pocket. Giving her a small peck he left the room, she could hear muffled sounds through the walls although it sounded a lot like yelling but she was too exhausted from the day to move and it wasn’t long before she drifted off to sleep.
