{Chapter 1}

***Aaron's POV***

The movie had come to an end and we pushed past the gathering crowd of people waiting for the midnight premire of the latest movie. Once outside, we walked hand in hand towards the direction of Lila's house.

My palm became sweaty while the brisk turns of my head to look behind us every so often would leave me groggy. My mind would try to convince itself that it was silly to accept my gut feeling of being followed as correct. Lila with a squeeze of my hand pulled me to face her and exhibited concern in her voice when asking if I was okay. I responded with a nod and said, "Perfectly fine. I'm just coming down with a fever; nothing some chicken noodle soup and medicine can't cure." By the looks if it, she didn't seem to believe me but decided not to question me any further.

When we reached the porch of her house she planted a peck goodbye on my cheek that I had returned by placing a kiss on her hand. Before heading into the comforts of her own home she twisted her ruby ring whilst telling me to call her whenever he felt terribly sick and needed her company.

Ryan, my best bud, offered to drive me and let me park my car in his driveway a couple houses away from Lila's before the date. He insisted on a pep talk that I thought wasn't neccesary at all but I wasn't gonna tell him otherwise so, I let him continue to drone on and on. The minute I slammed the passenger door he sent me a wink and yelled, "Follow my advice and she won't be able to keep her hands off you!" His comment had me roll my eyes but I honestly couldn't imagine any other guy as my right hand man.

Noticeably loud footsteps and rustles of nearby bushes had me return from my thoughts with a sudden burst of energy to flee. I sprinted while concentrating on keeping my breath at a steady pace; no matter how hard it was to keep my uneasiness on whether the threat was gaining on me or not at bay.

What in the world does this man want with me? I swear I have never seen him in my life so how could I have ever put him in harm's way? None of it adds up! Unless maybe he thinks I'm sticking myself where I don't belong? Like maybe between himself and someone else but that's ridiculous, right?

 When I finally reached the car I quickly settled in the drivers seat with my hands on the wheel and my right foot stepping on the pedal. I drove away when one of the many bullets the strange man had fired hit my car window making the glass shatter into many little pieces.

What the fuck! Should I leave my parents out of it? Who am I kidding, I can't hide it! This isn't a little dent in my car; you can literally shove your hand in there now that the window is nonexistent. The man happens to obviously be missing a couple of nuts and bolts that's preventing him from thinking straight! Yet I'm 100% sure that this won't be end the of my suffering.
