Chapter 2
I'd only been here a month and I was already the most popular girl in school. I hadn't had a boyfriend because there was only one boy I wanted and he was taken, but I was working on that. I parked my car and checked my lipstick before stepping out. I loved my car. It was a Corvette zr1 that my uncle bought me for my 16th birthday.
I walked into school and bumped into Jackson on my way to my locker. He held on to me so I wouldn't fall and he smiled, "Next time you might want to make sure there's nobody in front of you."
I laughed, "Well maybe you should watch where you're going." I smiled as I realized his arm was still around my waist holding me. I looked up at his amazing blue eyes that sparkled when he smiled, and his thick black hair that just fell into his eyes.
"Next time I'll just remember to watch out for you." He said as he winked and walked off laughing. God. He made it so hard to not like him. I always forgot he had a girlfriend, it seems like he did too. I know he likes me a little right now I mean how could he not, I just have to get him to like me more.
When I was at school with Jackson, I forgot about Dylan, sometimes he would cross my mind but only briefly. It was when I wasn't with him that Dylan creeps more into my head. But lately with every day that goes by I think about him less and less, and I think more and more about Jackson and sometimes Cory.

I jumped as the bell rang. It was finally the end of 4th period. High school classes could be such a drag. I walked into the cafeteria, set my things on the table, and got in line for lunch. I was always one of the first at the table. People called my name and said hi, I just nodded at them or ignored them. Milly came and sat across from me.
She was a lot like me, I guess but I was the confident and cool one. She giggled a lot and flirted outrageously. She was your typical blonde and I loved her.
"Hey there." Lou said as she sat down. "How was your weekend?"
"Horrible." I said putting my head on the table.
I felt an arm wrap around me, "What happened?" I lifted my head from the table and turned to see Jackson sitting next to me.
"My parents came over." I said pouting.
"Oh. How did that go?" He asked slightly amused. I elbowed him slightly.
"Not funny. I didn't talk to my dad, and got into arguments with my mother, at one point she told me to stop bitching." I gushed out and hid my face in Jackson's chest, as he still had his arm around me.
"What did you say in response to that?" Daisy asked. By now the whole table was listening in.
"I laughed and said 'Or what? You'll hit me, bitch slap me? Besides I don't want to it's too much fun.' She was about to slap me I saw her hand twitch." I said as I got absorbed in the memory.
"Give me the bracelet Poppy." Mom said, her tone getting impatient.
"Why? I can throw it away myself. I don't need you to do it for me. I'm a big girl now, I've got two arms and two legs that work perfectly, I think I can handle it myself. Don't you think so?" I said sarcastically smirking at her.
"I know you, and as soon as I walk out that door you're going to go and get it and put it back on. Now give it to me." She said her teeth grinding with frustration.
"Or what? You'll hit me? Bitch slap me?" I scoffed at her.
"We'll see." She replied angrily, but trying to keep her cool.
"Alright then, fine. Just know one thing, you try to slap me, I'll stop you. If you manage to slap me, I'll slap you right back. I'm tired of you slapping me, and me not doing anything about it." I replied hotly.
"Stop bitching Poppy." She said rolling her eyes.
I laughed. "Why, thank you! And no I don't want to, it's too much fun."
I saw her hand twitch and I knew she was about to slap me. Then she went to close the door. I turned to see that my uncle had stopped down the hallway and he was looking at us. I put my hand on the door and pushed it back against the wall.
"No, don't close the door. I don't care if they see. I'm not embarrassed." I turned to face my brother who had been sitting on the bed this whole time. "Right Jacob?"
"Wow that's just wow." Lou said her eyes wide listening. "Not even my mom and I are like that."
"Yeah well its complicated." I said shrugging. They didn't know why my parents and I were like that. They didn't know why I'd moved here they just knew that my parents and I had a bad relationship and that they sent me here to live with my uncle. That's all they knew and I was going to keep it that way.
"Well you wanna go outside now?" Jackson asked looking at me with concern.
"Yeah." I said shaking my hair out around me and smiling.
He gets up and I follow him. We walk out and go to our hang out place. I lean against the walls and sigh. Jackson pulls me in for a hug and rubs my back. The wall goes to a corner, that's mostly secluded, so we call it the 'Rape Corner' we even labeled it already.
"Everything will turn out just fine. You'll see." Jackson said pulling away a little and looking at me. He had such beautiful eyes that I could get lost in them forever.
"You really think so?" I said sighing again.
"Yes I really think so. I know you and you know how to get what you want. And if you want to fix things with your mom, you'll find a way." He said still looking into my eyes.
"Not everything." I whisper looking into his eyes.
He starts to lean towards me with this intense look in his eyes. His lips are right above mine, "I think you do." He whispers and then closes the distance. His lips meet mine and it's like fireworks going off all around me. Suddenly it was just the two of us and all I could think about was his lips against mine. They were soft and perfect and they drove me insane. He was an amazing kisser and he made me absolutely breathless, and for once I let myself forget about everything in my past. What I had done that horrible night. I just let myself live in the present.
