Just Friends Right?

Chapter 4

            I walked into seventh period and set my things down and sat on my desk. This was my favorite period of the day. Megan, Cory, and Todd were in this class and it was always so much fun.  Jackson always came in with them and left like a minute before class started.

They walked in and headed towards me. I smiled at them and Cory stood in front of me. Jackson came up and put his arm around me possessively

  “Are you two dating?” Cory asked looking at each of us.

Jackson smiles and says, “Yes we are, I just asked her out today.”

“Oh, congratulations man.” He says, and for a second I swear I see this look n his eyes. I don’t know if its jealousy or hurt. But then it quickly goes away. I look at him curiously.

Todd comes over and high fives Jackson, “My man! It’s about time. I’ve been listening to you talk about her for ages, ever since she moved here. By the way you got a nice one on you.” He says winking at me.

 I roll my eyes, “You know he’s your cousin and it’s totally wrong for you to hit on me.”

 He laughs and says, “I know but I’m just saying. Besides I do have a girlfriend.”

 “Aren’t they just so cute together?” Megan says beaming at us.

 “Yeah totally.” Cory says looking at us. He gets that weird look in his eyes again, but yet again it quickly goes away so I don’t know what it is.

 “Jackson you have to leave you have a minute to get to class.” Cory says abruptly looking at him.

“Alright I’ll see you later today.” Jackson hugs me and gives me a peck on the lips then leaves. I look after him with a smile on my face.

 “Alright kids please take your seats.” Mr. Kostello calls out.

While he talked about math I dazed off. I was thinking about where Jackson would take me for our date. Maybe on a picnic, or to the movies, no hmm that’s to cliché. Somebody tapped me on the shoulder. I look over at Megan.

 “Umm honey you do realize you have a huge smile on your face and your eyes are glazed over.” Megan says.

 I feel my face get really hot. Great, now I’m blushing. I look forward and notice Cory staring at me. I smile at him and he winks. He grabs a piece of paper writes on it and throws it at me. I grab it and open it, ‘We still on for movie night?’ I smile and quickly write a reply. ‘Of course! Haha same time. Come over tomorrow.’ I toss it back and he smiles as he reads it. At least three or four times a week we have movie night. Sometimes I come to his house or he'll come to mine. I prefer his house because my uncle is really overprotective even though Cory and I are just friends. Really good friends, he was my best friend. But his mom was doing major cleaning tomorrow or something so I couldn’t come over.

The rest of the class passed with giggling from me and Megan and lots of laughing which included Cory and Todd laughing at us. I ended up sitting on Cory’s lap. What? I always sit on my friend’s laps.

“You do realize you’re sitting in my seat.” I said looking down at Cory smiling. “You have two choices either you can move or I sit on you.”

“Well I’m very comfy right here so no thanks.” He says winking at me.

“Alright but you gave me no choice.” I quickly sit on his lap before he moves or blocks me. He laughs and puts his hands on my side and starts tickling me.

“This isn’t going to make me move! It’s just gonna make me move a lot while I’m sitting on you!” I gush out while laughing. I hate it and love it when people tickle me. It’s a love hate thing. He stops tickling me and just wraps his arms around me.

“You know I don’t think Jackson will like this very much.” Todd says looking at us. He throws a glare at Cory.

“Well Cory is my best friend and there is nothing between us so he’ll just have to suck it up. Besides sitting on a guy’s lap isn’t cheating.” I say laughing.

“But it’s still wrong honey.” Meghan says smiling.

“Well hmm, Cory’s my best friend and is more like a brother to me.” I say.

“Agreed she’s like a sister.” He says smiling at me. “And it’s gonna stay like that forever.” There was a sad look in his eyes. Which I thought was weird. Why would he be sad about something like that?
