Chapter 6

Just Like Them

When we hear the door opening we quickly jump apart and sit on opposite ends of the couch.

“Hey kid. How was your day? Oh, Brenda who’s this?”

“This is Jackson. He’s taking me out on a date tonight. I was just showing him how to get here for later and I invited him in for a drink and a chat.” I smile sweetly at my uncle.

“Alright but it’s time for him to go home now. We have a lot to do today.” He says ignoring my very angelic and oh so innocent smile.

“Okay sir,” Brian gets up and walks towards my uncle and sticks his hand out. “My name is Jackson and I would like to take your niece out on a date.”

“Well, when is it? And before you take her out we’ll need to have a nice little chat with my brothers.” My uncle replied coolly taking his hand and shaking it firmly.

Jackson kind of paled at this, but he stared at my uncle and didn’t back down. “Alright, how does tonight sound? Around 6 o'clock?”

“Sounds good to me.” My uncle said as he stared right at Jackson. It was like a stare down and neither of them would back down. Finally my uncle said, “Alright time to go home kid. Brenda walk him out please.” He walked away and went into the kitchen.

I smiled up at Jackson sheepishly, “Sorry about that. But it’s gonna be worst later. So be prepared. All of my uncles are over protective.” I said as I walked him to the door. I pulled him in for a hug and kissed him.

He gives me another quick kiss on the lips and leans down to hug me. "I'll see you later." He whispers as he kisses right under my earlobe. I shiver and I feel him smile at my reaction. He walks down the driveway and disappears down the street.

“You’ve only been here a month and you already have a boyfriend.” My uncle said sighing. “Also I thought he already had a girlfriend?”

“I know, I know I barely know him.” I said laughing. “Well he did but he left her for me because I’m just that special.”

“I think you turned out a little too much like us.” He sighed again. I knew he meant him and my other uncles.

“What can I say, I learned from the best.” I laugh and bump my hip against his. He rolls his eyes at me but he still smiles.

“You learned way too much from us, in fact I would say  you’re a little tomboyish.”

I gasp and say " I am not!" He just looks at me. "Okay maybe a little. But I am still plenty girly."

"But the way you act sometimes, besides it seems like you get along better with guys instead of girls.”

“Some girls bring on way too much drama for my liking.” I reply with and obvious ‘duh’ in my tone. “So obviously I would get along better with guys.”

“There’s a difference between guy friends and boyfriends.” He said shooting me a glare. "And you go out with practically any guy you meet. And then you dump them."

“I have not gone out with every guy I’ve met!” I said outraged but with a smile on my face knowing it wasn’t an actual fight.

“Sorry just about every guy. Maybe 3 out 5 guys.” He said rolling his eyes and laughing.

“Whatever, if that was true I would've had like 5 or 6 boyfriends by now. So, I get along better with guys end of story. ” I said starting to walk away and head up the stairs to my room.

“Clean your room! I swear every step I take in there I step on clothes or something.” He said right before I closed my door.

“Okay! Or maybe you just shouldn’t come in at all!” I yelled through the door.

“We have nothing to hide so were allowed anywhere we want in this house.” He yelled back.
