Grey Karim. It was a name that makes people in the Las Vegas, shiver in fear. I have no idea why he is feared. I am Aricia Karim. I am Grey’s little sister. I hadn’t known his existence untill a week ago, a day after my parents dissapeared on May 29th. It’s Las Vegas, soo my brother could have a job, that is illegal that made him feared. But no, his daily job is at a coffee shop that he owned. Maybe he has another secret job. But I shook my head at that. No, he’s too busy with college, which is 2 hours away, so, it might not have been college he is attending. I’ve thought about it a lot of times, but, no, he actually enrolled to a college, seeing his social skills and amazing lie detecting skills, which I think he got that from his psychiatry class. Or was it psychology?
Anyways, Las Vegas is quiet in the day, and really really loud at night *A.N. if it isn't, let's just say it is* . So I create a sleeping pattern for myself, which is, sleeping in the day, and studying at night. I’m home-schooled by the way ( FYI my teacher is really confused, why do I have all the assignments sent to him at night ), so it doesn’t really bothered me that I left restless New York, to Las Vegas, which I don’t have a description about yet.( I love seeing places in a different light from other people). So, it was a perfectly normal day, waking up to my brother cooking dinner. ( The first time I saw him, I could’ve sworn it was a younger version of Dad with Mom’s eyes ).
“Evening, Ari, I’m making omelette. It’s all we'vw got for today, sorry. Ran out of ingridients. Do you want to split the omelette?” Grey said flipping the omelette. He's kind od weird that way, he often talk in a rush like something's after him or rather his words. “Nah, not hungry. By the way, have you heard from the police?” I asked Grey. He’s been the one meddling with the police. ( so whatever made him feared isn’t illegal ) “Yeah, police found Dad’s car in a hidden spot behind a park.”. It rang my bell. I slapped my forehead. “Oh, we were supposed to be having anniversary picnic. Oh my god, Grey, what if they have gone looking for me and got lost or something.”. I panicked but Grey just laughed. “ Calm down, sissy, they would probably called you first, before going ballistic. I haven’t lived with them for a while, but I know they are rational parents.”. I sighed in relief, he’s right.
Oh I just remembered. “Grey?” I asked silently, my curiosity burning, eating me alive. “Yeah?” he said fixing a plate for his food. “how come I didn’t know you before all this?”. He looked pained when I ask him the question. “You do, Ari. You just don’t know where that memory is stored.",
"What?"
"Do you remember about the accident you had as a child?'
"The one that gave me this scar?"
"Yes, so what happened was, we took you to the doctor to get stitched up, you were unconcious then, so when you woke up on your bed, I was beside you, being the good brother I was" He wiggled his eyebrows at the last part. "You freaked out. I called mom and dad. We tried to tell you you have a brother, you believed it, I was crying, because you didn't remember me, but mom told me it's just a post-traumatic stuff, but the next day, you forgot who I was again, and you screamed about stolen cereals or something.” He took a bite of the omelette.“So, how come I remember you, everyday, now?” I frowned. “Exactly, you were getting better. Mom and Dad was gonna tell you about me.”. Okay, okay hold up. “Does this accident involve a bike, a fire hydrant, and one of your naughty friends?”. Grey smirked and added ketchup to his ommelette. “So you remember the accident, and my friend, but not me?”. “It was a guess based on my observation.” I shrugged. “You know, when my friend found out about you, he wanted to see you, and apologize.”Grey said. I laughed “There’s no need to it was a long time ago.”. “He felt guilty I guess, I mean you forgot about me, we were the bestest of friend. Here, i insist.” He shoved a ketchup-smeared omelette to my mouth. I hummed in satisfaction. “This is good. Okay, now I’m hungry.” “Looks like we’re going grocery shopping tonight sissy. Get dressed”
As soon as we arrive at the supermarket ( this is a decent supermarket, so it’s like... I don’t know, but I slept through the whole trip ), I ran to the cooking ingridients thingy isle. I took 2 boxes of chocolate cake mix. My brother laughed as he put the boxes in the cart. I glided ( literally) to the dairy section and took 2 bottle of strawberry milk, 2 melt-able cheese ( I have no idea what it’s called) , and, 2 cookies and cream ice cream tubs from the fridge. “What is it with you, and two?” Grey asked. I looked at him amused “Rhymes. 1 is too little, 3 is manageable, 4 is quite enough, 5 means roadtrip and vacation, and 6 means apocalypse. My grocery shopping motto, usually with mom and I bought three, but I pity you and your wallet.” My brother laughed.
“Duly noted. She is considerate but don’t tempt her. Okay, are you done shopping?”
“Yeah I guess.” I said fixing my hair into a messy bun, because my hair was annoying me. He looked at me from head to toe .“If you had known one thing, I would have thought you are obviously flirting.” “What’s wrong with my outfit?” I look down to my rabbit sweater and pink short pants, top off with a cute pair of teal flats. “Nothing.” He said smiling, flicking my framed glasses. Wait, I was using my glasses? Oh. No wonder, Grey laughed when I tried to look for it. That bastard.
