*24 hours prior*

"I think you should hang out with Brie. I feel like you guys would get along."

I looked over my back as I changed out of my shirt into one of Mitchel's t-shirts. I raised my eyebrow at his out of the blue suggestion. Mitchel was sitting on the side of his bed, holding a cigarette in his left hand.

"Coming from the guy who didn't even want me to know that she was here." I commented.

Ever since the day that I stormed out the house, I haven't said two words to her. Although that's better than arguing every five seconds like her and Christian. Alexa told me that Christian would say a smart ass every time she opened her mouth to say something. I wanted to know what was the issue between them but I figured that he would say something to us if he wanted to.

"Oh come on Shawn. Please just a few hours. I'll even give you a present." he smirked.

I finally got his shirt over my head and walked over to him, standing in front of him. I rested my hands on his shoulders as he took a drag of his cigarette. He placed one hand of my hip. I leaned down to where our lips were almost touching.

"We're watching The Fault in Our Stars and Endless Love in the same day." I said against his lips.

He grunted and fell back onto the bed. I laughed at his actions and climbed next to him. He didn't like romance movies, but I loved them. Every time I suggested to watch one, he would end up running away or distracting me. But this time, he has no choice. I gave him a kiss as an early thank you.

*present*

"Thanks for coming along. I don't think I could handle being alone with her."

"No problem. It was either this or spend the day with my sister and her friends."

I asked Alexa to come with me to hang out with Brie. I was terrible around new people. I needed someone to be a buffer or I was going to sit there and sip on my water for an hour.

Alexa and I were sitting in a booth towards the back. Conveniently enough we had a perfect view of the front door.

"So what are y'all supposed to talk about?" Alexa asked.

"I don't know. I wouldn't even be here if I wasn't forced. I don't understand why he wants us to hang out." I said, playing with my straw.

"Well I can guess. Girlfriend and best friend. Well I guess best friend. I don't even know how close they are now."

"Christian hasn't said anything about her?"

"Nope. Unless you count the ten rants a day about her. He can't stand her but he won't tell me why. Has Mitchel said anything to you about her?"

I shook my head. Apart from the main details he told everyone, he didn't mention anything about her. I found it weirder that Christian didn't say anything to Alexa either. He was an open book. Neither of them were ones to hide their past, especially from us. I wondered if it was the same with Alex. We were so deep in conversation that we didn't notice Brie walk up to the table.

"Am I interrupting?"

We both looked from the our table and saw her standing on the side. She was in a black tank top and a checkered skirt. Her blonde hair was in a pony tail and she had on simple makeup. Alexa scooted over to let her sit beside her. She sat next to her, her eyes glued to me.

"I see you guys already ordered drinks." she pointed out.

"Yeah. We figured you wouldn't mind." Alexa explained.

She hummed as a response. I called over the nearest server so she could order her drink. As she ordered, Alexa gave me a look that screamed 'she's a bitch'. I tried to hold in my laugh. She finished and pointed her attention directly at me.

"So how long have you known Mitchel?" she asked.

"Around two weeks."

She put her hand up to her chest, almost as if she was shocked.

"Wow. And you already have him wrapped around your finger. It took me months."

She laughed after her last sentence, but something told me she wasn't joking.

"How long have you known him?" I asked, trying to cut the venom from my voice.

"About twelve years. We went to school together. We were close until he decided to move to LA a year ago."

There was a hint of sadness in her eyes. The mood fell for a moment but was interrupted when the server brought her water. We were ready to order our food so we did. The server left once again. I should at least make an effort, partly only for Mitchel. It was obvious that he wanted us to be friends.

"Any embarrassing stories?" I asked smiling.

A smile appeared on her face.

"You probably know all the good ones." she smiled.

"Oh come on. You have to have good ones since you've known him for so long."

"Okay okay. In year nine, he got in so much trouble because he got caught smoking weed on the roof. But luckily we had a plan for moments like these. Instead of calling his mom, we called my older sister since she was eighteen years older than both us. But he was so scared. I spent the night comforting him. I don't even believe that this is the same Mitchel that cried when his goldfish died. He's so much hotter now." she said, taking a swallow of her drink.

Not really much of a story. Alexa choked on her drink from the abruptness of her last comment. I kept my composure, mainly because this wasn't the first person, nor the last, that called him hot. I mean he is. If I got pissed from that, I would be mad all day. Although the way she said it, made me a little annoyed. I didn't know how to respond so I sat there drinking, giving fake laughs here and there as she talked.

"So what happened between you and Christian?" Alexa asked between one her breaks.

"You mean he didn't tell his precious girlfriend." she mocked.

Alexa clenched her jaw.

"No he didn't. Will you?"

The bitchiness that was on her face was replaced with a solemn look. There was small pause between Alexa's questions and her response.

"I cheated on him."

Okay I would be pissed at that too. But he's with Alexa now and this wouldn't be the first ex we've come across. And Christian was not the one to hold grudge.

"With Mitchel."

"What?!" Alexa and I yelled.

"Yeah shocking, I know. But before you attack me, you might want to ask your boyfriends what happened. I forgot I had a doctor's appointment. Come talk to me once you talk to your perfect boyfriends." she said, saying perfect mockingly.

She got up from the booth and walked out the door. We looked at each other, both in shock. We sat there. Quiet. There was so many questions circling around in my head. Was Mitchel the guy I think he is? Maybe this is what he was talking about. Thinking your boyfriend could something like that, especially to his best friend, was something that made my chest heavy. I felt my eyes gloss over and my hands begin to shake.

"Sorry it took so long. We're kinda backed up in the kitchen. Who had the chicken caesar salad?"
