"Tell me that bitch is lying."
"Or just fucking crazy."
These were the first words that the boys heard when they came home late that night. After the fun talk we had with Brie, Alexa and I decided that it was best to confront the boys before we came to any type of conclusion. Of course, we would consult our boyfriends before we believe a random blonde. Alexa were more concerned than angry, as was I. From what I could tell she wasn't as scared to be disappointed as I was. Even though I didn't want to, or even knew I did, I held Mitchel on a pedestal. I knew alcohol and drugs were apart of his lifestyle, but cheating is something I consider almost sinful. The thought of that made my heart heavy with anxiety.
The boys walked into the front door, laughing and chatting, but little did they know that two of their girlfriends had been consumed with crazy thoughts for almost eight hours. I called Alex and filled her in on everything, but she was stuck in castings all day. Although, that didn't stop her from almost jumping in her car and repeatedly saying 'I'm ready to kill and bury a body tonight'.
"What are you talking about?"
Mitchel was the first to speak up. He was used to being welcomed home by a hug and a kiss but now I was sitting on the sofa with only a tormented look.
"What happened?" Christian added.
Both their smiles had vanished only to be replaced with small frowns. Their posture became tense when they noticed that something was definitely wrong.
"Can we have a moment guys?" I said, looking back at the other two boys behind them.
They gave a slight nod and went up the stairs. Mitchel and Christian walked over to the front of the couch, so we were now face to face. They sat on the table, Mitchel in front of me. I looked at Mitchel's aquamarine eyes which were already filled with emotion. He touched my knees with his hands, rubbing small circles with his thumbs.
"What happened, Shawn?" he asked.
"Did you date Brie?" I asked lowly.
His eyes widened and his jaw tightened. His grip on my knee tightened for a second, only to be loosened again.
"Brie told you guys." Christian murmured.
"Yeah she did. So its true? Christian, why didn't you tell me?" Alexa asked, placing one of her hands on his neck.
"Because its not really something I wanted to remember. I thought we agreed to leave this in the past."
The last part he turned towards Mitchel, who still hadn't said one word. Mitchel's head was pointed towards his lap, only letting me see his messy hair. I grabbed his hands that were still on my knees and began to speak, trying my best not to sound upset.
"Mitchel. Let me know what happened. I would rather hear it from you than Brie. Please."
"I wouldn't call it dating. More like I was in love with her but she only wanted one thing so I took what I could. Even though she was dating Christian. I knew it was wrong. I knew I would regret it. But she was all that mattered. The moments after we had sex and she was just laying in my arms gave me so much happiness. I thought that hurting a friend was worth it. It wasn't in the end of course." he said.
He voice was weak. I could tell that this was hard for him to share. As he told the story, he began to lace his fingers with mine, one at a time.
"By the time Christian found out about what we were doing, it was too late. They were already broken up. I wanted more with Brie but she didn't want to commit. And to top it all off she told Christian what we were doing. She thought that if she did that, I would leave her alone. Christian confronted me and I admitted it which led to us not talking for a year. We eventually got over it and made a promise to keep it in the past."
A deep breath left my lips. The room was silent and filled with an emotion that was complex. Almost a mix of pity, sorrow, and a little bit of enmity. Hearing the emotion in Mitchel's voice made the annoyance of him cheating go away. Of course, the thought still made me feel uneasy. The love that he described for her built a concern in me. I knew it wasn't the conversation that needed to be held in front of others.
"Okay. But one question. Why the fuck are you still friends with her if she did all this shit to guys? I mean if it was me, I would've cut her out my life." Alexa said.
"Especially you Mitchel." I added.
"Well technically I'm not. I would much rather never see her again." Christian said, pushing his hair back.
"Okay so Mitchel?" I asked.
For the first time in the conversation, he let go of my hands. He stood up and began to walk away from us. I quickly grabbed his wrist and told him to wait. Where the hell was he going? It pissed me off how he just got up, without a word, and was just going to leave. He looked back at me and said something that made me feel as if I was shattered.
"Let go. I have to go find Brie."
I brokenly let go of his wrist and just as he said, he walked out the door. Leaving me more confused and filled with fear then when this conversation started. Tears began to flood my eyes, my vision blurring.
"Shaw-"
"I have to go." I said before anyone could say anything.
I wasn't planning on chasing Mitchel. He made his choice. But I did have to go somewhere. Somewhere that I could think or cry. Most likely cry. I felt so weak. I barely could walk, it was like Mitchel took all my strength with him. I didn't know what he was going to say to her, but I could only assume the worst since he didn't mention why he was still friends with Brie.
I walked for almost an hour. I found a bare cliff over looking LA. Looking out into the city lights, I sat down, falling, onto the dirt. Thoughts ran through my mind like a never ending train, one after another, until one thought decided to stop. Tears poured down my face, painting the ground with dark spots.
"What if he's still in love with her?" I cried.
