A Nightmare (Sequel to Just a Dream)

Chapter Five (Keeping secrets)

"Aww, where am I?" Vi thought, while rubbing her head.

She was at the same scenario as what happened before. Her happy place, but with wilted plants near a dark castle that villians use because they think the other colors are too bland and too pretty for them to handle. She looked around, but only finding the Turtleneck Sweather Bunch along with Dan entering the place. She followed them, but when she spoke about how they got here, no one listened. She started to think that they are ignoring her, but she realized.

This is what Dan has been experiencing when he got this result. But why here?

She noticed that the others were gone and ran off to find them, just in time to see that Dan and Madelyn were alone.

What did he kept from me that I never knew of?

She started to follow them, getting schocked by the scares in the process. She knew that they were triggered by those wires, but no one noticed it besides her. Then after for what seemed like a minute or two, they stopped. Vi wondered why they did stop. Dan and Madelyn never told her this.

"Let's split up," Madelyn offered. "Maybe one of us will find it."

"With scary things and a maze to go through? I'd rather have the fight with those... goons than this!" Dan argued, but Madelyn was gone.

What is going on? Didn't they finished it together? Did they find the key?

Her mind was filled with questions that she had to ask, but she already knew that talking wasn't allowed. She kept going with Dan, since she didn't know where Madelyn left. But because of this, Dan got back to the start, retraced back, and made a loop where he was back at those doors.

"Ugh this isn't going to work!" Dan mumbled.

He went staight and took random turns, closing his eyes and covering his ears in the process. Vi wondered where on earth he was going, but continued to follow him until they made into a dead end. Dan opened his eyes, and sighed angerly.

"At least it wasn't the beginning of this maze." Dan grumbled.

He then did the trick again, leading towards another dead end. But this time there wasn't an indication that there was. Ahead of him lay a hallway, with bright colors. He wanted to follow it, but he also wanted to go to Madelyn. He didn't know what to do, however Vi read his mind somehow and noticed that he would perfer to go there instead of completing the maze. She suddenly knew what this was, a trick that was used when those three people were tricked a long time ago.

"Wait! Don-" Vi hollered, but it was too late.

Dan followed out, the sunshine blinding his eyes. He was in someplace that Vi couldn't figure out, but knew it was something wrong. She followed, becoming aware of what it was. The exit back to the maze crumbled, indicating that there was no going back. Dan stood quietly on the scenery, not talking.

"Dan? What are you doing?" Vi asked, but Dan didn't reply.

Suddenly, other people appeared. One had a ton of green in his messed-up hair, another with curls blocking his left eye and dyed red. They looked at Dan, who was maybe a bit scared and brave at the same time.

"Who are you? Why are you here?" Dan yelled.

"esol uoy, naD," One of them said quietly.

"Is this some sort of code that i'm not following?" Dan asked. "You led me here. And now I want to turn back!"

'Dan, you lose'. Huh they just want to place it in reverse.

"You came here because you wanted to get away with all of the scares and mazes. It's your fault that got here by mistake. Because of that, 'it' will scare you," the red-hair guy said.

However, the greened hair guy seemed to look at her. He then whispered to her, which Vi can hear, but not Dan.

"Pain is the end of a fairytale, but not real. Enemies and allies you have seen won't be the same. Figure it out, and nightmares will cease to doubt, but be careful. Nothing will ever be the same." He said before snaping his finger and everything went dark.

"AHH! This is really cold you guys!" Vi shouted as she woke up, feeling cold because of the cold water.

"Sorry, but it's already morning for some reason," Crainer apologized.

"We just got scared and woke up early, that's all... well at least until you were fidgeting and mumbling something," SSundee continued.

"Let's just wait here until Jemma or something goes out of this house," Thea said. "Then we can figure out with-"

"I don't think that will be happening soon," Jemma replied, making Thea jolt in surprise.

"Don't worry, I told her that you guys are fine," Dan reassured. "And she was cool with it."

"You guys really need to get out of that basement here. It's chilly there," Jemma warned.

As the group headed out of the basement, Vi couldn't contain her thoughts.

What does this guy meant when he said that riddle? What even is Dan trying to hide from us?
