Mackenzie pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. She was tired. Normally, they didn’t have to get up at five in the morning to go to a competition, but this one was extremely far away but wasn’t too long of a trip to take a plane.

She shifted around in the seat, trying to get into a comfortable position. Mackenzie was so tired. Maybe, she could just…

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mackenzie sat in the hotel room watching TV while eating a bowl of soggy cereal. Earlier, the rest of the girls had decided to go to a nearby mall, but Mackenzie had decided not to go. After she ate, she needed to run her dance, so it would be perfect when she performed.

Her phone on the bedside table vibrated and she quickly picked it up. She had two texts from Ava and Grace.

Ava: Baby dolls!

Grace: I’m pretty sure I’m not a doll, Ava.

As fast as she could, Mackenzie typed a response

Mackenzie: I’m not a doll either!

Ava: It’s an expression guys  :/

Grace: We’re girls. You know that, right?

Mackenzie smiled at their little inside joke. Grace always corrected people when they said guys instead of girls.

Mackenzie: I’m pretty sure she knows Gracie Baby

Ava: Okay, I’m changing the subject. Are you guys going to the dance?

Mackenzie: I don’t have a date…

Grace: We have a science test on the Monday after it, so I don’t think I’m going.

Ava: Sooo…I asked this guy in my math class and he said yes!!! :D

Mackenzie: That’s awesome. Who is it??

Ava: I’m going to the dance with…Tyler!!!!!!
