By the end of it all, your hand hurt quite a bit and your writing had gone from neat to... noticeably sloppy. The notes you'd taken had amounted to about two pages front and back. A few lines were skipped here and there, so maybe it wasn't as much as you thought it was, but it was still plentiful. That said, there wasn't much talking from you. Even when Ven and Kairi offered their notes for you to copy, you still turned them down and said that you might as well write them now since you were bound to forget their offer if you accepted. Plus, the sooner you wrote them, the sooner you could commit the stuff to memory.
Ivalice turned out to be a rather interesting world with many interesting races. When you got the chance, you'd taken to sketching out the best picture you could of the displayed image. This happened to be what you were working on right now. It wasn't top notch or anything, but it wasn't horrendous either. Mediocre, you guessed.
"While we are on the topic of the races found here, does anyone know someone who is from Ivalice?" Balthier asked.
A small murmur arose and everyone conversed on the matter. You looked over your notes just to recap, when your eyes landed on the word "Viera". Just when someone had begun to speak, you voiced your thoughts aloud.
"Isn't Fran a Viera?"
The class came to a hush as eyes turned to you. There was a mix of different looks. Some with weird looks that more or less wondered how you could possibly know. Others that were bored but looked just to look. The remaining surprised faces were, well, rather astounded that you had an answer at all.
One girl in particular, whose hair was blond with streaks of electric pink in her hair, was one falling in the bored looks category. You noticed her blue optics look over your clothing. That's right, you still had not obtained a uniform. Her face contorted with disgust and she turned away with a scowl.
You swallowed back a few nerves and spoke your reasoning.
"I mean... Well she has the rabbit ears, white hair, and she looked really tall."
At this, Balthier smiled and walked over to your side of the classroom. "Fran? The secretary in the office downstairs?" You nodded. Though you were more than certain you were right, now you feared that somehow you were wrong. You were relieved when he smiled and nodded, but his next question was a tough one. "Indeed she is. You are correct in the assumption, but can you tell me what type of Viera she is, Miss. [L.Name]?"
You cleared your throat and looked over your notes on Viera. "She's um... Well, she would be a..."
Veena's were a lot lighter in skin coloration than the Rava. The Feol were completely different from either two--having blonde hair and shorter ears. Fran was definitely not this one. You hadn't seen her for that long, so you couldn't remember if she was lighter or darker skinned. You cleared your throat.
From behind you, there were small whispers that you couldn't make out well enough.
"-na...ena..."
'Ena? The hell is an Ena?' You looked back up at Balthier who was patiently waiting for an answer with his arms crossed. You could still feel the eyes on you--some rather judgemental, others hoping you could answer correctly.
"R... Ra-"
Just then, the board gleamed yellow.
The students shot up from their seats almost instantly shot out of their seats, bags already pre-packed. Some didn't even care and haphazardly tossed their journals and pens into their bags. On the other hand, a few sleepers didn't take to kindly to the bright light and rubbed their eyes while trying to block it. Balthier sighed and returned to his desk as he spoke.
