[VII] Reunion

      You were notified that lunch ended when a glow similar to that in the classrooms illuminated the dining hall. The difference here was that instead of yellow, it was a rainbow of colors that reflected off of the stained glass windows. All around you students did one of two things. Some pressed a spot on the tray and the remaining food was encased by a sheer-like energy which slowly took on a more physical form as it became less transparent and more opaque. The top would twist into a knot and the energy lifted with the food inside before bouncing back onto the tray. The instant it hit the tray the energy gave way to a cloth with a randomly generated design and the only thing that came to your mind was that the food now resided within what would've been called a bento in Japan.

     The second option seemed to be pressing a spot opposite to the former which merely vaporized the remaining food. Those students then found a nearby trash can to dispose of the ashes. Regardless of the option, everyone then snapped their trays shut and handed them to a guard at the doors on their way out whom would then deposit them in a box after checking them over.

     Being mostly done and doubting that you would eat the leftovers anyway, you pressed the spot where you guessed the vaporizing option should be. Luckily you got it right on the first try and quickly followed the rest of the procedure. Kairi was waiting outside the doors with a smile. After spotting you, she reached out and gently tugged you close to avoid losing you in the crowd of students once again. "How did you like lunch?"

     "Definitely a lot better than Earth."

     She laughed and adjusted the strap of her bag. "I'm glad you think so. Radiance Academy has always been known for its facilities and one-of-a-kind learning environments, but somehow whenever we have transfer students, they always vote on the food being most memorable."

     "I don't blame them. For one you get to eat in a grand dining hall. Second, you said the royal chefs make everything, right?"

     "Well yes, but..." She gave a defeated sigh and smiled. "I guess there's no changing that."

     The two of you returned to the staircases to head back down to the second floor. On the way, you saw many other students taking their time in heading to their next class. Some chose to spend additional time with friends they probably wouldn't see until later--if they would see them at all for the rest of the day. A few teachers that passed by would warn said students against skipping or being late and ushered them off to class. While you were certainly no fan of having to climb so many stairs in one day--seeing as you'd definitely walked and climbed more than you would ever like to--all-in-all it made for a decent exercise (especially after lunch) and you hoped that whatever happened to your living arrangements would involve staying in the on-campus "dorms" that had been mentioned earlier in the day. If those nearly endless stairs had to be ascended for the rest of your school year, well then you'd might as well call it quits now!

     Finally reaching the second floor once again, the burgundy haired girl directed you back to the relative area of the science wing where instead of turning right, you continued down the massive hall just beside said wing that Ven had gone down earlier; the one with the red Guidance Gems.

     "This hall is split into two sections," began Kairi's explanation, "This side has red gems for electives. The other side is purple for all the clubs. Some classrooms are located in this hall but most of them are in the hallway at the end."

     "And our next class is art, right?"

     "Yep! And I'm really excited for you to meet the teacher, too."

     "Are they your favorite?"

     "Well I can't exactly say that without being biased." She laughed and smiled.
