Alice P.O.V

I was stuck in the coffin, it was terrible, I was crying each day begging to be let out. But I heard Carlos speak to me and it reminded me of something, being in the coffin night and day. Made me think much more.

If at least one or two of us get out, we can go and get help...if it work. We can all escape day by day..Carlos..I don't know...if you can hear me. But I think we're going to need your help on this.

I stopped thinking when my stomach growled, I was hungry. I needed food! If James said he loved me. Which I doubt existed in his heart, he wouldn't let me die! I'm probably these girls last chance to be saved before sudden death or worse, being changed into one of them. I heard a noise of banging, which shook the whole house. After I heard what seemed to be James voice, he was yelling.

"SHUT UP KENDALL OR I'LL KEEP YOU IN THERE FOR MORE THAN A MONTH! AND YOU KNOW ALICE WON'T MAKE IT!" I gasped and prayed that Kendall would shut up, to my surprise. He did, but Kendall hit the door one last time and yelled.

"YOU CAN'T KEEP ME IN HERE FOREVER!" I started breathing hard, hoping that he would get out and save me or possibly. But I know Carlos would do anything to protect Victoria from James hurting her.

3 Days later

Third Person

Alice was screaming for food and begging to be let out, Kendall hasn't been hitting the door or anything. It was hard for Alice to breath with only hours of life left. She was going to die in pain, still bliandfoled. She slipped her hands out of the rope by the amount of blood and she took it off to cover her wounds, Alice began to scratch the roof and banging it up and down. When she knew annoyed James.

2 Hours later

Alice was running out of time, she was going to die. Alice knew it, the air was now practically leaving the coffin and Alice felt, she was going to get a heart attack or something similar. Alice began to carve something on the roof, a little message. It took awhile, then suddenly. She couldn't breathe right, Alice started breathing hard, until she couldn't breathe no more. Before she closed her eyes, Alice heard cracking noises and the lid of the coffin was thrown at the opposite wall. The air from the outside filled her lungs and Alice could breathe again, whoever saved her stood over her and took her out of the coffin. He fell to the wall and whispered.

"I got you..you're alive" Alice looked up at him and it was Kendall, he had burn marks on his face that were. Sizzling, yet slowly healing. Alice looked out the window the saw that the sun of still up.

"How did you get out?" She managed to ask, he laughed.

"I picked the lock" Kendall laughed, she smiled and hugged him tightly. Then looked at him.

"James was going to kill me" Alice said, he sighed and shook his head.

"Not with me around...and he was just trying to scare you enough to know you wouldn't try and escape again, is what I'm hoping" Kendall said, Alice weak smiled and he stood up carrying Alice to her regular room. Which had a new door and lock, he untied her feet and didn't bother to put the chain on the right side of the bad. Kendall just sat there, until Carlos came by the door.

"Alice" He smiled, she smiled and waved, Carlos saw the way her looked. Alice head was dirty from the dust in the coffin. Except the part that covered her eyes, her hair was drenched in sweat. The bandage covering her broken head was bloody. Alice used to be white dress was now gray, her ankles and wrist were badly wounded from the rope. Her fell to his knees and grabbed her hands whispering.

"Why do you let him do this to you? You need to fight back!" Carlos yelled, but he didn't mean it. Alice looked at Carlos and her face said something that Carlos didn't fully understand himself, it was a mixture of all her feelings. Like they wanted to come out, but Alice kept it from revealing itself.

"I guess you should go and get the first aid kit again Carlos" Kendall said, Carlos quickly left the room to retrieve it. Kendall stroked her hair and looked at her nails, they were bloody as well. Kendall was angry at James for causing all this pain to Alice.

2 Hours later

Alice looked better, new bandages, showered and back to new. They did this all with the sun up, so James didn't know. Kendall quickly went back in the basement as Carlos stayed, Alice looked up at him.

"I need you to be honest with me Carlos" Alice said, her voice cracking. Carlos looked at her and put his head up.

"Is a human able to block a vampire from getting into their mind?" She asked him, his eyes widen.

"What?" Carlos asked, Alice sighed and repeated it. But more louder.

"No..I heard you..just...I don't know"

"That's what you've been trying to tell me, isn't it..you do know, now please don't let me down" Alice said, Carlos sighed and nodded.

"Can you teach us?"

"Us?" Carlos looked up at her and looked in her eyes, he knew she was being dead serious.

"A-As in..the rest of the slaves?" Alice shook her head.

"Not all of them..I don't want James to become suspicious"

"Then who do I not teach?" He asked.

"The ones who seem to be scared of me and the weakest in James eyes"

"Then that ought be everyone" Carlos crossed his arms and sat down, Alice shook her head once more.

"I believe these girls can learn to cover come their fears!..They're stronger than they think..I see it in them and no matter how much they call me stupid-"

"It's not stupidity, it's bravery" Carlos interrupted her, Alice nodded.

"Yes, and they have that trait as well! They think it's stupidity, but it isn't" Alice said.

"The point is..can you teach us..it's the only way to hide my pain" Carlos nodded and grabbed her hands.

"I will teach you" He smiled and she hugged him.

"But James isn't going to be happy today at all" Alice shivered.

"Even I'm afraid of him!" Alice said, Carlos laughed and stood up.

"Please stay in here, I don't want James getting in here and doing something I hope he won't do" Carlos said, she nodded and put the covers around her scaredly thinking 'What's he gonna do?'
