*The next day* (after the night at the casino)
Diggy
"Yoo son! She beat you out of 500K?!" Roger asked. "You mean to tell me you had 500,000 thousand dollars and you wasn’t gon’ slide me a stack? I coulda went to the strip club and made it rain." Spin added on, lowkey mad. "Man, I didn’t start out with 500K, I came to the table with 10 G’s and I beat those two old white men out of all of theirs, which equaled out to like 470K. I had 485K, until shorty came in with her 5 stacks. We played for an hour and she beat me in every single game." I defended myself. "Damn, son." Roger sighed. That girl has been on my mind the moment she walked away to the coin exchange. If we ever meet again, I will tell you my name. I promise her medium-pitch voice echoed through my ears from retelling the story. The way she looked at me, had me wanting to rip her clothes of her body. But I doubt I’ll even see her back at the casino. A little after I left, I heard gunshots and knew it was something serious, so I just chilled and wrote rhymes. Reliving the moment had seen that girl had me writing my rhymes about her. I gotta see her again. I thought to myself. “Yooo Earth to Daniel Simmons!! Son what’s up wit’ you? You over here looking deep in thought. What’s on your mind?” Spin asked, waving his hand in my face, trying to get my attention. “Iight real talk, last night right before she won all my money, I was trying to distract her by talking junk to her and like she looked up at me, slide all her money in and made a hit just like how I did and smirked at me. Son, my face got hot, my hands got all sweaty and my fucking heart started beating faster. No girl has EVER done that shit to me. EVER! and it’s just got me wanting to see her that much more.” I said, rubbing the back of my head. “What the hell son? She had you feeling like you fell in love with her or something.” Roger chimed in. In love with her? Nahh, I don’t even know her. But I’m not gonna flex and say she didn’t have feeling some kind of way, cause she did. “Nah man, I just feel like I need to…no I HAVE to see her again.” I replied. “Yoo my mom said that’s how my dad felt, when they first met. And well, they are married.” Spin said. “Woah, nigga chill! He just seen shorty, he ain’t about to wife her, like the fuck?! Besides he don’t want Yaris getting mad, you know how she is.” Roger interjected. “Son, that’s not my girl. We just kick it together.” I replied, sucking my teeth. “Nigga. How long y’all been fucking?” Rog asked, about to make his point. “Yoo chill, so what. That’s not my girl.” I brushed it off, only to see my phone ringing. Yaris. Damn! I thought Roger looked at my face and knew as I picked it up. He mouthed ‘I thought so’ “Yaris, what’s up girl?” I said into my phone. “Hola papi! When are you coming back? Te extraño!” she whined, in her thick Dominican accent. “Today, why what’s up?” I replied, trying to sound casual. “Nothing, I just miss you and your ‘you know what else’” she said, giggling to herself. “Oh word? Well ima be back later on today, iight?” I asked. “Si papi! I’ll come see you and show you how much I been missing you.” she purred in the other end. “iight, I gotta go, see you later.” I said, trying my best to get off the phone with her. “Okay bye papi.” she said, before hanging up. I hung up and sighed. I was not trying to see her at all. But maybe it’ll get shorty at the casino out my mind. I wonder if she’s even thinking of me….
Elan
Me and Heather got back to the city in no time, which was good. Before heading home, I stopped at the back to cash that check Estéban wrote me. When preparing my deposit slip and check, I took a look at it and seen that Estéban made the check out to ‘mi hermosa marrón muchacha’ I rolled my eyes and stuffed the check and the deposit sheet in the envelope. Put it in the teller and made my way out the bank. I got back in the car and rushed back home. After I unpacked my bag, I started my laundry and played my answering machine. I started the first load and stared at my project my boss gave me about what it took to discover fresh talent. My mind drifted to Jacob and his amazing voice. Ironically, the next message was from Jacob. Hey, Elan it’s me Jacob….uhh the shooting at the hotel, caused the hotel to be shut down for further investigation, so I’ll be free for Wednesday or any other time. You can call me on the number I’m calling you on now or my cell number (856) 996- 1478. Thanks again, see you soon! *beep*. I smiled and finished up sorting my next load. After completing my laundry, my mind drifted to that guy at the casino. He looked familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Oh well. I made myself some leftover curry chicken, rice and beans, snuggled up with my dog, Cheerio and went to sleep.
