Chapter 3: Escaping with the escape artists

"Are you sure this is a good idea? We could definitely get in trouble for this!" Evangeline watched as Jyugo unlocked the cell door with ease.

"Calm down, angel. It's all good." Jyugo said waking out. Rock and Nico followed Jyugo and Uno placed his hand on my shoulder, causing me to jump a little.

"Hey. It'll be fine. You're new and female. You won't get in trouble."

"Won't you guys get into trouble, though? And what does being female have to do with this?"

Uno giggled. 'Is my confusion funny to him?'

"Listen, darling. You're in an all-male prison which ironically has a female warden. You're the only girl inmate in this entire prison. So of course the guards won't give you the same treatment they give us guys." Uno replied with a wink.

"Yo! You two coming or what?" Jyugo called from the hallway.

"Yeah yeah... hey, " Uno looked at me again. "You'll be fine."

He then ran out of the cell to catch up. I thought for a second then caught up with them. Before I knew it, the sound of alarms were heard. We hadn't been running that long but I was afraid. Dropping from heaven for being accused and then escaping from a prison. Could my day get any worse?

"How ya holding up, Evan?" Rock looked back at me. I didn't expect anyone to talk to me while we were doing this so I was startled a little.

"U-Um... fine." I replied.

Suddenly, we heard loud yelling from behind.

"COME BACK HERE YOU STUPID PUNKS!!!!!!!!!!"

"Crap! It's Hajime!" Uno said with widened eyes.

"Just keep going!" Jyugo replied.

Hajime was getting closer and I was getting even more freaked out. Although Uno said I wouldn't get in trouble, I'm still an inmate. Of course I'd still get in trouble. I just got here and I'm already trying to leave.

The door slammed shut as Hajime left. I didn't get in trouble but the other four sure did. I even almost got switched to another cell because they're "reckless".

"Well, there you have it, Evan. Our daily routine... and what we do when we're bored. Hope you're ready for next time." Jyugo said.

"Next time?! I don't want there to be a next time! Do you know how scary that was for me?"

"Come on, it wasn't that bad. You didn't get in touble so you're fine." Uno patted my back.

"Okay but just because I got let off the hook the first time, doesn't mean it'll happen again. I almost got switched to another cell on my first day!"

Uno giggles at what I say. 'What's so funny about it? '

"You worry so much, Evan. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. You are an angel, after all. Of course you'll wanna do the right thing."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I folded my arms.

"Oh nothing. It just means you're a goody goody who won't get in trouble."

I began to get frustrated.

"Listen. I don't think you get it. I've explained what happened to me already, but I guess it didn't make it through your thick skull. I wanna go home! But I can't really do that if I'm in a place for bad people. I did nothing wrong and yet I'm being punished for it. My own best friend didn't believe me!! You don't understand how hard it Is! To die, go to a better place, and then get thrown back down into a place even worse than where you were before..." I got teary eyed. Now that I said it aloud, it broke my heart even more. I went and sat in a corner, my wings covering me like a blanket. I hugged my knees and cried into them. I felt Nico gently hug me. I knew it was him from the feeling of his bandages. I let him in by opening up one of my wings. Once he came in, I closed it up again.

"Please don't cry, Evan-chan. Uno-kun didn't mean it."

"Yes he did....if Uno really had any respect for women, he wouldn't say such things. He'd understand how I'm feeling and wouldn't need a second explanation.." I said everything in a low voice so Uno wouldn't hear. But I guess he heard anyway.

"Evangeline...I'm so sorry...I.."

"Uno...just stop. You said what you said." I cut him off.

"I didn't think it would hurt you that much...I didn't think it would hurt at all."

"Well it did.. I'll forgive you some other time..but for now..I just can't talk to you.."
