Chapter 1

(The night before)

[Mitsuki's POV]

It was close to 10 pm and I was still busy completing my assignments in the study area located near the living room when all a sudden, the front door of the house just flew open and both my parents were staggering in to the house. At this point of time, it was obvious to me that they went to drink at a nearby pub and what makes it even worse is that, they're even more abusive when they're drunk. I quickly gathered all of my belongings and I was about to head up into my room when my dad shoved me to the floor and started hitting me. I led out cries of pain and my dad started to hit me harder.

"Dad, will you stop it. It hurts." I said, in between sobs.

"Shut your mouth young lady!" Dad raised his voice at me and I whimpered.

"Dad, stop it please. I beg you." I said, sobbing even harder.

"Will you please quieten down? I do not want the neighbours to hear us." Dad said, covering my mouth.

"So what if they do hear us? Are you afraid that they're going to report you to the police?" I asked but my voice came out muffled.

"One more word from you and I swear, you'll get it even worse than this. Do you want to get beaten even more?" Dad asked, holding up my face so that I'm looking at him. I just shook my head and he has finally stopped hitting me.

"And one more thing, make sure to not let your brother know about this incident all right? If I ever find out that he knows about this incident, you'll be in deep trouble." Dad said and I just nodded.

The both of them finally went up to their room and I gathered all of my belongings that were scattered on the floor and headed straight up to my room right after. As soon as I closed the door, I placed all of my belongings into my school bag and went over to the mirror. To my surprise, there was a bruise on my right arm so I decided to treat it before putting a band aid on it to hide it. I then got onto my bed and lay on it, I switched off the bed side lamp and cried myself to sleep.

(The next day)

[Mitsuki's POV]

I was woken up by the sound of my alarm and I reached over to snooze it. I sat up and stretched a little before finally getting out of bed. I made my way towards the washroom and started to shower. After I was done showering and putting on my clothes, I went over to my mirror and combed my hair before tying it up into a neat ponytail. I grabbed my bag and phone and headed downstairs. Once I was done putting on my shoes, I quietly made my way out of the house and closed the door and I started to make my way to school.

I quickly made my way to my first class of the day and sat at my assigned seat while waiting for the class to begin. Lessons went by like a breeze and before I knew it, it was already time for lunch. I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked towards the school's cafeteria. As soon as I spotted my best friends, I walked over to their table and sat down.

"Hey girls." I said, smiling while putting my bag down on the empty seat.

"Hey Mitsuki." All of them chorused.
