Ch. 5: Chikara Sheds Some Light

Flare's POV

I walked in silence throught the park, slowly calming down. I sighed and put my necklace back under my shirt. I heard heavy footsteps behind me. I slowed and waited for thr person to come closer. Once they were right behind me I swung my leg around to kick them. 

"Hey!" They caught my leg before it could make contact. I saw Demon.

"Oh sorry." He smirked and still held my leg. "Can I have my leg back?"

"I don't know, can you?" I gave him a blank look. He laughed and let go. "What was that?"

"I guess I'm just on edge."

"About wht was down in that sewer?" I nodded.

"It wasn't a sewer down there. It was like on older version of the catacombs. Like they looked like it was used but has been long forgotten."

"That's because it was." We turned to see Chikara standing before us. "It is apart of the catacombs. "

"What is?" Catman's voice sounded. The rest of KISS walked up but not the gang.

"I will explained.  Come with me." She walked toward her building. We gave each other looks but followed. Once inside she started to explain. "Back whrn the park was built, the catacombs covered more ground than they do now. There was a man that used the area you were at as a workshop."

"I don't remember that." Starchild said.  

"You wouldn't.  He kept to himself and did not work here long." She walked over toa file cabinet. "Here is the original maps of thd park and catacombs."

"Wow." I looked it overas she set it down. "It really is a labyrinth down there."

"Yes it is." Spaceman lent over the maps. "But this portion is not there. Well at least not connected anymore." He motioned to a section that was off the south side of the park. 

"If that is an old workshop, it's huge. Compared to the rest of the catacombs."

"That's for sure." Demon scoffed slightly. 

"That looks like the area where I ended up after that slide." I pointed to an area on a different map.

"That is the center ov his workshop. He left behind almost everything." Chikara walked over to her couch and sat down. "All his work and research."

"Who was he?" Starchild asked.

"He called himself John Kain. But I always had a strange feeling about him. Like something wasn't right about him. He acted out of nirm, even for this place." She looked perplexed. A same look had to come on my face after something she said registered.

"Wait a minute!" All of them looked at me. "You said he left all of his stuff behind?"

"Yes. Why?"

"Because..." I paused thinking back. "There was next to nothing in that place. Only a few scraps of metal and wood." I thought about the charm thing but kept that to myself. 

"How is that possible?" She walked over to the window.

"From these maps, that part of the catacombs were blocked off. The openings were bricked up and covered." Cat pointed at certain areas. I stopped listening and walked over to Chikara.

"Why do I have the feeling you're not sharing everything?" I stood next to her.

"The man, John Kain, he was not of Earth." She looked at me. "I am not sure where he was from. I always thought he reminded me of someone of KISSteria's past."

"Another person?" She nodded and I thought about the charm again. I looked to make sure the guys weren't watching. "Well...could this help?"

"What?" She looked to my hand as I pulled the charm out of my pocket. She looked at the charm then to me. "Where did you find this?"

"It was on the ground in his workshop."

"Oh my..." She took it and examined it. "Until my suspicions are confirmed, this stays between us."

"Alright." I went to walk away but stopped. "Chikara, earlier, what were you trying to tell me?" She turned and smirked at me. 

"That you are extraordinary. I know about you powers young one." She whispered and walked back to the boys.
