Sarah's pov Right now we were standing in the tent where the general was telling us about the supply drop off
"We have no information regarding its whereabouts or its position.What we do know is that the convoy is overdue,it's possible they're lost or have run into mechanical difficulties.This however,does not change our objective or our time frame"The Lieutenant said
"You've been telling us to be patient,to stand by,to stay put.But what if this convoy isn't coming.Then we're staying put,wast bag our resources that we could be-"But the lieutenant cut him off
"I understand your frustration"
"How can you?We've survived this long by moving,trustingonly ourselves.Now you want us to trust you,but here,out in the openexposed to the element,we're sitting zombie bait"The survivor said and I hate to say it but he's right
"We don't have a choice.Now we can sit and complain about the state about things or we can be proactive and find a solution"Lieutenant said and I looked up at 10k
"The convoy was headed down this road.Based on our last contact it would have to be between here...and here"He pointed to a map
"That's almost ten miles"The guys said
"The convoy has the munitions and supplies necessary to feed and protect us on our trek North.Without It,we are at a severe disadvantage.I am calling upon two able-bodied volunteers to join myself,Sergeant Czarnecki,And Private Lilley on a search party"He said and before I could say anything my boyfriend spoke up
"Well go"He said as he looked at Doc and I pulled on his arm
"It's okay,we'll be back.I promise"He said and I looked at Doc and he gave me a nod
"Good we leave in ten.The rest of you need to rotate standard guard until we return"He said and we nodded
I walked over to Doc and 10k who was getting ready to go out on the search party.
"I'm counting on you to come back"I said to 10k and he leaned down and kissed me
"Don't I always"He said with a small smirk and I smiled
"Yeah,this damn kid got ten thousand lives"Doc said and I laughed
"Be careful you two"I said as 10k gave me a kiss and Doc came and hugged me.I watched them walk out the gates and get into the truck,not before 10k waved at me and they drove off
"So did you get those results"Michael said from beside me
"Yeah I did"I breathed out taking out the piece of folded paper from my back pocket
"Did you look at it yet"He asked and I shook my head
"It's nerve racking"I nervously chuckled as we sat down
"Yeah I bet it is.But I think you two can do it,even with zombies and Enders and the world is shit"He said and touched my hands
"You think"I asked as I looked up at him
"Yeah,I kinda have this gut feeling he'd be a great dad too.If you are pregnant"He added and I nodded
"Yeah me too"I held the small rectangular piece of paper in my hands and let out a shaky breath
"I need some space before I open this"I said and grabbed my guns making sure they were loaded along with a knife
"What do you mean"He got up too
"I'll be back.Im just gonna go for a walk clear my head and then I'll come back with the news"I said and held up the paper
"You sure that's a good idea.The Z's are relentless,been crazier then ever"He said as he walked with me to the gate
"Yeah I need to.If 10k comes back and he asks where I am.Tell him I went for a walk and I'll be back soon"He sighed but nodded anyway and gave me a hug
"I'll let Sun Mei and Red know.Be careful"He said and I smirked
"Aren't I always"And laughed before I waved bye and walked towards to woods
No one said this would be safe.I mean going into the woods,alone.You see that stuff in movies and then the girl feels like she's being watched and then she gets chased,and then killed my the killer.Only this time,there's no psycho serial killer,just zombies.And I think I'd prefer zombies over a knockoff Jason Vorhees.
As soon as I got in the woods I took out my guns and was aware of my surroundings.I remembered what Michael said about the Z's,and he was right they were getting weirder and weirder as time went on.
I looked around in my surroundings and seen an open area.I didn't just want to sit down on a tree and then get attacked by a Z.That would be real bad.I looked around at the trees around me and seen a tall enough tree to keep my safe and easy to climb.So that's what I did.Once I was at the top I could only see branches of tree.
I leaned my head back against the trunk of the tree and ran my hand over my face.I made sure my guns were in a comfortable position and then took out the piece off paper.Was I ready to be a mom?Thats What I've been asking myself since I've had the theory of me being pregnant
Was 10k ready to be a dad?Did he want to be a dad?We've had this conversation a couple times within the two years.We both said we'd want kids but in this world,it terrified me.And after I had the theory of me carrying a child,I'd always get dreams of 10k and I,living without zombies.In a home,we were engaged and we had two kids.Twins to be exact,one boy and one girl.And we were the happiest,we could've been.
Their names were Cassandra and Colin.They're four years old and the best thing that happened to us.When Tommy found out I was pregnant,He was the happiest person alive.He promised he would always keep the kids and I safe.And just after the twins' fourth birthday,I found out I was pregnant again.A third kid.
I laughed at thought of 10k and I having normal jobs and well a normal life.That didn't seem possible anymore,not ever.I groaned and thought
'This is it.Now or never'
I let out a shaky breatheand shook the piece of paper in my hand before turning away and opening it
"I'm ready"I told myself and looked down a the paper that held my fate and in smeared handwriting.I sucked in a huge breathe when I read what was on the small piece of paper
