"Lucinda Mills! Get up!" I heard my mother yell from downstairs. I hated it when she used my full name like that. I groaned and pulled the blanket over my head to block out the morning sun, until the events from yesterday came flooding back to me. I decided I was going to ask one of my close friends, Paige, what she thought of everything. Paige and Christian had been close friends for years now and if anyone knew what was going on in his head, it was her.
I pushed down my blanket and slowly placed my feet onto the cold wooden floor. I rubbed my eyes and stood up. I wobbled on my feet then stepped towards my stack of clothes near my poster wall. Over a year I had collected as many pictures as I could to cover my bare walls. I had everything I loved on that wall. From Taylor Lautner and Nick Jonas to Escape The Fate and Paramore. Looking down at my uniform I scrunched my nose up. I hated my school uniform, if I could, I would burn it. The gray pants and navy blue jumper did nothing for my figure. It bunched up and made me look twice the size I really am. I sighed, switched on some music, and got dressed.
After straightening my hair, which took forever, I headed downstairs to find something to eat. Stepping out of my room I shivered. My room was the only room in the house with a heater, and since it is winter all I wanted to do was run back to bed and hide under the warm covers.
I managed to get downstairs and I stood in front of the fridge staring at the contents hoping something would jump out and scream "Eat me! Eat me!" I closed the fridge and decided to just have some coffee to wake up.
I looked at the clock and changed my mind. I would be late if I didn't leave right then. I turned the kettle off, picked up my small brown bag, and headed to school.
I wasn't able to talk to Paige when I got to school because I was almost late. I went to my psychology class, struggling up the stairs because I was so tired, and sat up the front next to the left wall (as usual) next to April, a girl I had known since I was 12. I dumped my bag on top on the desk and smiled at her, and complemented her hair. Last time I saw her, she had black hair which she had dyed bright red and cut very short. It suited her very well. I pulled out the heavy books and looked up as the teacher walked in.
I didn't say much that class which got April worried. I am normally a very talkative person and I could go on and on about nothing, even during class. April poked me while the teacher was explaining something to do with visual perception. I looked over at her as she mouthed "What's wrong" I wasn't sure whether or not I should tell her, but I felt like I had to talk to someone. I waited until the teacher left to photocopy something when I whispered what had happened.
"What?!" She whispered furiously, her bright red hair bouncing around her ears. "He said that he couldn't be with you because he's not living at home? What the hell?" April was just as confused as I was. "I'll talk to him tomorrow. I'll see what he's thinking."
"No!" I almost shouted. A few people turned to see what was wrong. "Please don't April" I whispered back. "I don't know if I should have even told you!"
"Okay" She looked a bit sad. She was about to say something else when the teacher walked back in and the class picked up where it had left off.
When the bell rang I headed to my usual table in the courtyard. It was out of the way of everyone and even had a little owl living there. I looked up at the cute owl living above the table and smiled. A few moments later I was joined by my best friend Taylor. For some reason she was practically sprinting towards me, her thin legs taking long strides and her mousy brown hair almost falling out of its usual pony tail. She was the cutest thing ever. She had big brown eyes and small features. The only flaw I could see would be her cracked lips from biting them too much.
"Lucy! Oh my god! See that guy over there?" She exclaimed.
I looked over and saw who she was talking about. He was tall with short black hair and tanned skin.
"Yeah... What about him?" I asked looking back at her. She was staring dreamily at him.
"He's hot." She was still staring at him. "I saw him in the gym the other day while I was waiting for you after class. He asked me to help him lift weights" She giggled.
She sat down with a thud and placed her chin in her hands still staring. I laughed at her expression, and then looked up at the boy again. This time he had a friend with him. I gasped thinking it was Christian, then he turned around and realised it was someone else. This boy had the same sort or 'skater look' Christian had, which I found extremely hot. And looking at this guy, I thought he was pretty good looking too. I saw him look up at me and I quickly looked away.
"What year are they in?" I asked Taylor while rummaging through my bag for something to eat.
"They? Oh! Sorry I only saw one" She giggled. "12, I'm pretty sure. I think I would have noticed them if they were in the same year as us."
Our school only had two year levels, 11 and 12, because some weirdo thought it would be better for the school to be split. I hated the idea because I had to leave so many good friends behind at the junior school.
Taylor quickly looked around and had a huge smile on her face.
"What?" I laughed.
"He looked over at me! Is he still looking?"
"Yes! Go say hi or something." I nudged her towards him, but it was a bit too late, the bell rang and Taylor almost ran to her next class and I couldn't help but laugh. I looked back and saw the boy Taylor was talking about, staring after her.
