"So are you ready?"

"We're not leaving until six, Leigh!", Jade said already frustrated with her best friends behavior. "It's your birthday, I get that. You finally turned sixteen, I get that, too. But please, calm down."

"I'm just so excited!", Leigh squealed. "You and Jesy already went a few times into clubs with Zayn, Hailee, Camila, and Nick. I'm just so happy that I can join you finally!"

"Well, but Niall is still fifteen.", Jade reminded her best friend. "Which means, you can be excited, but it's still not the whole group."

"I know. It sucks that he can't come, but that means his birthday next year will be even more fun!" Jade rolled her eyes playfully and let out a chuckle.

"Also, I believe you will be very excited to see one person in particular.", Leigh smirked.

Ugh, she's talking about Zayn, Jade thought. She loved Zayn, that was no secret. Everyone knew that except him, of course. She's loved him for three years now. They're best friends and have been through a lot of stuff together. She just wanted to move on now.

"You don't seem excited?", Leigh asked.

"It's just... I'm trying to finally get over it. He was with Camila once, he liked Jesy and then he called Hailee 'babe'. He's not a player, I know that by heart. I mean, he wouldn't be my best friend otherwise, but it's getting exhausting longing after someone for three years who's not going to love you back. Also, we finally started to become actual best friends again and I don't wanna ruin that.", Jade explained and Leigh nodded before hugging her brunette friend.

"I understand, sorry for always bringing him up.", Leigh whispered.

"Don't worry about it, it's fine." Jade was someone who always fell for the ones she couldn't have and she also fell in love hard. She never experienced just having a crush on someone or finding them cute. She took relationships and love in general very serious and when she fell in love, she fell hard and unconditionally. Jade knew it wasn't healthy for her, but that was how her heart worked.

Now after longing for her best friend for three years she finally wanted to have some fun. Which you wouldn't probably believe since Jade had never been kissed before nor had any kinds of intimate experiences. She wanted to change that. Everyone else already had their fun, well except Niall and Nick, but only because Nick had the same perspective on love as she did and his heart was already set on someone. Niall on the other hand just didn't find a reason to have hook-ups even if it were just make-out sessions. He didn't see the point. Jade actually admired that about Niall. They kind of had a brother-sister kind of connection and Jade was glad she had someone she could stay with at parties without making sure they won't chase after someone they wouldn't see the day after anyway.

Zayn and her were different. You could clearly see that they loved each other somehow, but it was a different kind of love. Not a sibling kind, but also not a friendship kind. It wasn't romantic love either. It just seemed like they had a special connection that only they knew about. They knew each other better than anyone, they always had each other's backs and they would always put their friendship first no matter what. That's how it had been since the first grade.

Jade fell for Zayn at the end of sixth grade. It was love at first sight but in a different way. They hadn't spoken to each other for two years and she finally had the courage to talk to him again. And then it happened. She fell in love. It was weird for her because she never experienced something like that before, especially because she was so young, too, and she wasn't really believing the whole 'love at first sight' thing, but there wasn't any other word to explain it.
