"Promise rings?", Leigh asked and Jade shrugged her shoulders. Leigh was confused, too, after Jade explained Perries present to her friend. It was now three days before New Years Eve and Jade still couldn't wrap her head around Christmas. She had a great time, but that was the problem. Jade could imagine doing that every year as a family, but it seemed like Perrie only saw them as friends, fuck buddies.
"A symbol for our friendship.", Jade said with a sarcastic undertone. "The past few months I was trying to find out if she liked me back or to make her like me back and now I'm back at the beginning. I guess, it just shouldn't happen. But she always gives me these mixed signals. I'm so confused, Leigh."
"Maybe Hailee was right.", her dark haired friend suddenly said.
Jade sat up from her bed. "No.", she immediately stated. "Perrie did not use me or anything.. She wouldn't do that, alright? I know her too well by now."
"If you say so. We all know she used to be a player, Jade. It's hard not to think about that being a possibility.", Leigh explained.
"I know, but that's not the case. If her only goal was to get me, to get into my pants and break my heart, then she wouldn't have told me about her parents. I mean, she wouldn't have, right?" Why are you starting to doubt you and Perries friendship? She wouldn't do that to you! Jade thought.
"I mean, I don't think she would but if that is the case then.."
"I know.." Then you have to get rid of her, Jade, she thought. "I.. can't do that all over again, Leigh. The pain, the heartache, everything. And on top of that it's Perrie we're talking about. I'd be more than a mess."
Leigh sighed and stood up from Jades chair and made her way over to the brunettes bed to hug her. "If it goes that far we'll be here to catch you."
"Thanks, LeeLee.", Jade whispered. That's when suddenly her phone vibrated. "That must be Perrie."
Leigh grabbed Jades phone and turned it on. "It's.. Zayn.", Leigh said in a questionable tone. "What does he want?"
"I don't know.", Jade shrugged and took her phone.
'zaynii❤: You free tonight?'
'jaade❤: ehm.. Leigh is still with me until six, but after that yeah sure. Why?'
'zaynii❤: need to ask ya something ♡'
'jaade❤: alright, I'll come over at seven ♡'
"He wants to ask me something.", Jade told Leigh. "No clue what it is about, but I'll head over at seven."
"What if he wants to ask you out?", Leigh suddenly asked.
Jade was actually a little surprised by that question. "I.. I don't know. Maybe I should say yes and see what happens?"
"You don't seem so sure.", Leigh said.
"Because I ain't. But maybe.. That's the universes' way of telling me that Zayn and I have to try at least. If Perrie and I were meant to be, we would be together by now.", Jade said convincingly, but you could hear that she tried to convince herself, not Leigh.
"You do whatever you wanna do, but I don't want you to regret it."
"We don't know what he will ask me. It could be anything.", Jade said as if it wasn't a big deal.
"Whatever you say.", Leigh said before they continued to talk about New Years Eve.
Jade was surprised when she showed up at Zayns place and he took her with him to a bar in their town. Jade didn't say anything, although she was confused, because she thought he just wanted to ask her something, not go partying with her. When she asked him where they were going he just simply replied by saying having some besties time. Jade didn't ask further. Her thoughts drifted back to Perrie once in a while. She missed her. They didn't text much that day, because Perrie had to work.
