It was Lyrical class of the next day.
"Hey, Makenna..." Logan started as we were warming up.
"Don't even start," I told him. He was such a jerk. I thought he liked me, but he left me alone at the dance! And on top of it, Dustin had left me too with unplanned dinner plans!
"No, Makenna, I'm sorry, let me explain-" I cut him off.
"No, you left me alone last night," I started.
"Let me explain later," he added.
"Fine. Meet me at lunch. You have ten minutes to explain. Don't talk to me until then," I said, not even looking at him. He could have told me if he had to leave. How does he like to be left alone?
----------------------------------------------
It was lunch time. Time to talk to the jerk who had left me alone last night. And to think- he made me feel so good about myself...so comforted by him.
"Hey," he said as I sat down with him.
"Your ten minutes starts now," I said sternly, eating my Chinese food intensely.
"Well, I didn't mean to leave you on such a short notice. I had to leave the room to answer a call- it was too loud in there," he started. I felt a little bad now, he had to take a call. But still, he could have called the person back later!
"Well, it was my mother's nurse," he began. Uh-oh.
"She said that my mother isn't doing well. I probably should have told you later, but the time wasn't appropriate. My mother has Alzheimer's and cancer...she's suffering in the hospital right now and times are tough with her," he said. Tears filled his hazel eyes.
I WAS THE BIGGEST JERK IN THE WORLD.
"I'm so so so so sorry. I had no idea! I didn-" I started as he cut me off.
"It's ok, I was kind of jealous too," he said.
"Jealous of what?"
"You and Dustin dating..." He began.
"DATING?! We are so not dating," I said a little too loud. I drew some attention...but whatever!
"So, you call dating...a guy that hits on me in an elevator dating?" I asked.
"Did he say something about you was beautiful?" He asked. Why do people ask this?
"He said my hair is beautiful..." I said in a small mumble. I really didn't want Logan to think that we were dating.
"Yep. You're in the three," he said. Oh yeah, I remember the 'three girls' thing that he was doing.
"When's your first date with him?"
"At dinner. But I didn't even want to go. He didn't even mean it is a date, he just wanted to meet up," I said, trying to make it seem like weren't dating as much as possible.
"Well, as long as you don't call it as your dating him, your single to me," he said with a laugh.
"Maybe you and I could do something tomorrow night?" He asked. Risky move...if people thought that I was going on dates with both of them, it would be a total nightmare, especially in the gossip capital of California.
"I'd like that." I said as he leaned over and kissed me on the cheek.
"I'll see you later," he said with a smile as he left the table. There was only 5 minutes until my next class.
----------------------------------------------
"Let's get you ready for your hot date!" Haley just about screamed as she dogged through my outfits. She threw an outfit on my bed.
"Slap this one on," she said. The outfit was a blue TFIOS fan shirt with a pair of ripped blue jean shorts with blue Keds.
"Thanks, girl! Another outfit mission complete!" I said as in have her a hug. Now it's time for me to go out there and get this date over with. I really liked these guys, but until I can find the right one, I need to keep the dates as friendly as possible.
----------------------------------------------
Knock knock.
Someone knocked on the door- it was Dustin.
"Hey, ready for the date?" He asked right after I opened the door. He had a navy blue sports coat on and a grey striped shirt on underneath, with navy blue dress pants to match.
And to top it all off, he had a rose in his hand.
"Yup. I'm ready, Frank Sinatra," he was trying to be classic. Probably figured I liked classic because I've been spending a lot of time with Logan! He lead me down to the patio and to the dinner area. It's the first time that I've been in the dining area since I've been here.
"My lady," he pulled out a chair for me and then kissed my hand.
"Thanks," I added.
"Hello, I'm Fredrick, and I will be serving you tonight. Can I get you any refreshments to start out with?" He asked us formally. I never knew they had waiters and waitresses in this place!
"Two waters for now, please...and one fruit blast- two straws," Dustin ordered. How will it NOT seem like we are dating now? Besides, who knows if he backwashes?
"Coming right up," the waiter said. Very quickly, the waiter came back with a basket of dinner rolls and out drinks. The fruit blast was carried on an orange, red, and yellow tie-died tray that had parrot stickers on it. It made it seem more tropical. The drink itself were the same colors...just ombréd.
"Now, to order?" He asked us.
"I'll have the Caesar salad, please. Two bread sticks on the side," I ordered. Rumor has it that the breadsticks taste just like the ones from Olive Garden! Yay!
"I will have the trout with mashed potatoes, please," Dustin ordered. Fancy.
"Thank you for dining with us today, I will be right back with the food," the waiter added.
"So, I've heard through the grape vine that you have been spending a lot of time with Logan," Dustin started as he took a sip from the fruit drink. I couldn't help myself but to take a sip as well. It looked so good!
"Yea, but he's just my friend."
"A really good friend?"
"I guess so, yeah."
"We could be good friends you know."
"I know."
Our conversations were short but choppy. But as we got along more and shared interests, it seemed like we could tell each other anything.
"And the chap said 'That's how mum maid fish n chips!'" Dustin finished his story.
"Oh my gosh!" I said as I was laughing so hard, almost crying. He sure could make a girl laugh.
"The nights almost over, my dear," he started.
"Yeah, thanks for this. It turned out better than I thought it would be...it was great."
"Thank you. I'll see you tomorrow, Makenna," he said as he kissed my hand.
