The Official First Day

So today is the official first day of the academy. I had a few butterflies in my stomach, but besides that, I was excited.

"So, since it's the first day, I'll lend you another outfit. But girl, you seriously need to get a new wardrobe!" Haley said to me as I was trying to find my best outfit.

"Here," she said as she threw a pile of clothing on my bed. There was a bright pink tank top with a black sports bra and a pair of black shorts. There were also some neon pink sandals that had a bow on them. I quickly threw the outfit on and knocked on the bathroom door. She took forever in there!

"Hey, I need the bathroom too!" I called through the door.

"Get in here," she told me as she opened the door a crack and pulled me through.

"Now what am I going to do about your hair?" She questioned.

"Ooh! Got it!" She shrieked as she set me down on a stool. It was just five whole minutes of tugging, pulling, and combing my hair.

"There," she said as she crossed her arms as she was clearly impressed with her work on me. My hair was put in a French braid with a bow on the bottom of the braid.

"Woah," I said as I gazed at myself. I felt so vain!

"Now, I'll do the same to me and we can be matching! Now run along...you have to catch your lyrical! I'll see you in ballet!" She said as she shooed me out of the room.

Leotard? Check.

Black leg warmers that Haley lent me? Check.

Tights? Check.

My duffel bag was checked and I was ready to go. Now...just to find my lyrical class.... I took the elevator to the second floor where the class was supposed to take place and went down this LONG hallway. The hallways had walls made of glass on both sides, and I could see people dancing in both. It was hip hop and jazz. I saw Haley in the hip hop class...warming up. I only had 10 minutes until class started! I started running down the hallway and, with my luck, tripped on my flip flops!

"Woah, there!" I heard a voice tell me as the person caught me on my fall. Their hands were tucked around my waist. I turned around and saw a guy with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Gorgeous eyes. He was a few inches taller than me, and had shorter hair that had too much gel in it. But hey, he could work the gel!

"Going to lyrical?" He asked me as he helped me up.

"Yeah, how'd you know?" I asked. Was he like a fortune teller?

"Well let's see. 'New girl gets spot in lyrical' has been the main headline of school gossip so far," he told me.

"So your name's Makenna?" He asked me.

"Yup...that's me," I said half embarrassed.

"Well should we head to class? We only have 7 minutes until the bell rings," he told me in a reassuring voice. He was just as hot as Dustin! We walked down the hall and headed into the locker rooms.

"So you head into the girls' locker room which is on your right...see you out here in a few minutes!" He told me.

"Thanks! I owe you!" I told him with a smile as I opened the door to head into the locker room. The locker room was way too big for just the five of us girls. From what I could see, there was an Asian girl that was skinnier than Haley but was just as beautiful, a girl who had really fair skin with golden blonde hair and ice cold blue eyes, a super tan girl who had black hair and dark brown eyes who looked Hispanic, and a girl who looked really similar to Haley. We had quite a variety for just five girls!

"Hey, make yourself at home," the Asian girl told me.

"If you want the best spot for warm ups, I suggest getting a spot up front," the Hispanic girl said kindly. I quickly found the locker that had my name on it in bold cursive, and opened it up. There was a navy blue leotard with white dance tights and a note on top of the folded attire.

"Put me on," I whispered to myself. That's what the card said. I quickly threw on the clothing and put on the lyrical dance shoes that they had given me too.

"Amazing, huh?" The fair skinned girl told me as we both looked at ourselves in the mirror.

"Armando Louis designed them," she told me as we looked at ourselves at different angles in the mirror. I saw a couple of girls exit the room as a sign that we should get out butts out there. I quickly put my French braid into a bun and took my bow out and headed out into the large studio.

"Why is this studio so large if there's only the ten of us?" I asked the fair skinned girl.

"You'll see," she said. A short woman with auburn hair stepped out of a side room and approached us in the center. She had freckles and green eyes, wearing a similar outfit as ours. She was a little bit on the chunky side...not unless her breast just made her seem bigger. She had black leg warmers and ballet slippers on.

"Hello lyricals!" She greeted us with a warm smile, her freckles shifting with her grin.

"As you can see, we got new uniforms this year by a special designer! Now, your shoes are custom made for lyrical dancing. Let's try some dancing in them, shall we? Oh, and you can call me Ms. Hoop," she told all of us. She was really nice throughout the two hours of lyrical practice.

"To finish today's lesson, we need to get comfortable with our space. If you are wondering why we have such a big space for this number of people, it is because we will be practicing air techniques," she added.

"Please grab a partner. Actually, boys find a girl to partner up with," she told us. It felt like the only people in this room were me and Logan. How could I resist his hazel eyes? He approached over to me.

"Wanna be partners?" He asked me with a shy smile. Heck yes!

"Sure," I told him with a grin. My face flushed pink.

"Blush much?" He asked. That's exactly what Dustin had asked me!

"Just a little," I said with a laugh.

"Now, me and my partner Woody will be demonstrating techniques in a short dance piece that we will be re-creating with you guys," she told us as her partner Woody walked out. He was a very tall man with black hair and a long face. He looked Italian. She hit the music on and came rushing back to dance with Woody.

"Haha! That's hilarious!" I told Logan. We had free time at the end of class so that we could connect with our classmates. We shared stories and such just as me and Dustin had done.

"So, by any chance would you want to get dinner with me tonight?" He asked me.

"Is that a date?" I asked him back.

"I don't see why it wouldn't be. Meet me at the sushi bar tonight at 6:30?"

"Definitely," I replied, blushing again.

"Until then, keep on blushing!" He told me jokingly.

RING- the bell rang. I headed to my next class...ballet. Yes! Haley is in this class!

"Hey, girl!" I heard Haley call out to me as I was walking to ballet.

"Hey!" I called back as she gave me a tight hug.

So then the whole day went on good. My history and science classes went well, and DEFINATELY ballet with the help from Haley. That girl is hilarious!

Now I have to wait until dinner...with Logan.
