Mess With Fire and You Get Burned

“Welcome to Sky Hi-” Ron started to say but a striped arm entered the bus and stole his hat. We got off the bus and I saw Lash standing there as Speed sped around wearing Ron’s hat and I sighed.

“C’mon Ron, hey big boy. Where’s your hat? Where’s your hat?” Lash said mockingly and I shook my head.

“C’mon if your not gonna respect me at least respect the hat.” Ron said as me and Will walked over.

“Guys c’mon give Ron his hat back.” Will said as Speed stopped next to Lash taking off the hat and I gave Lash a warning look.

“Alright you’re the Sidekick, give him his hat back.” He said and tossed it in the mud as they walked away laughing and I picked Ron’s hat upa and handed it to him.

“Catch you later Stronghold.” Speed said and I glared at their backs, ‘oh he is going to get an earful later’.

“Thanks Will, Serenity.” Ron said.

“No problem.” I said and we walked off to class. As lunch rolled around I sat down at the usual table with the others as Will was still getting his lunch. I looked over to see once again a stripped arm and it was slinking along the ground towards Will and before I had any time to react it tripped him. Will fell making his lunch go all over Warren Peace and they both stood up as Lash’s arm slunk back and I ‘Accidentally’ stepped on it as I stood up making it recoil.

“Uh sorry.” Will said.

“You will be.” Warren said.

“Look, lets not do this.” Will tried again.

“You think you can do whatever you want just because your names Stronghold.”

“Look i’m sorry that my dad put your dad in jail.” Will said and I knew he crossed a line.

“Nobody talks about my father.” He said as he lit his hands on fire making Will back up and I stepped forward with the others. Warren lit up his hands with fire balls and threw them at Will as he used a tray for protection and people yelled fight. The fire ball hit the tray and it melted as he kept attacking and Will kept dodging. Will ran for the fire alarm but Lash tripped him again and boy he is going to be in soooo much trouble in Mad Science. Warren threw a big ball of fire at Will and he hid under a bunch of tables as Warren attacked both sides of the tables until they were both at the end. “Where’s your sidekick, sidekick.”

“Right here.” Zach said as we all stepped forward.

“Yeah.” I said as backup. Warren made his arms go all on fire and they backed up but I didn’t budge.

“Leave them alone.” Will said as he lifted up the table with Warren on it.

“He’s strong.” Layla said.

“I’m strong?” Will asked in disbelief.

‘He’s super strong.” I heard Gwen say and I rolled my eyes still happy for Will. Will tossed the table and Warren landed not-so-gently.

“Now who tripped me?” Will asked turning to Lash and Speed as Speed ran off and Lash stretched his arms to get him away and to the ceiling.

“STRONGHOLD” Warren yelled and Will turned to him as he stood up. I turned invisible and flew upward as to not get hit and I saw a stray fireball heading towards Lash and I immediately flew towards him as fast as I could. Just as it was about to hit him he turned and braced himself for the impact but I got there just in time and was hit instead of him. I felt the flame engulf my body as I was pushed back into the wall and fell releasing my invisibility. Just before I blacked out I felt arms catch me and set me down and I saw Lash’s concerned face before I slipped into unconsciousness. When I woke up I looked to see I was in the nurse's office and as I sat up a sharp pain went through my back. I looked back and saw that my wings were bandaged and I gasped remembering everything. The fight. The fire. Lash almost getting hit. The fire hitting me square in the back. Lash catching me. We at least that’s what I think happened. The nurse saw me as I tried to stand up and she made me sit back down.

“Are my wings going to be ok?” I asked her.

“Well it’s hard to say, they were burnt pretty badly and they will never be the same. Change the wrapping every week and they should heal given time. Now your friends are waiting.” She said and I nodded smiling.

“Thank you.” I said as I excited to see my friends waiting for me, Zach, Layla, Magenta and Ethan. “Where’s Will?” I asked as we stopped hugging.

“Detention.” Layla said and I nodded.

“Are you’re wings ok, sis?” Zach asked and I sighed.

“I have to change the wrapping every week and they should get better.” I said sadly as we started to walk. “What time is it?” I asked.

“It’s time to head home.” Zach said and I nodded.

“Wait.” I said abruptly and we all stopped and they looked at me weird and I turned myself invisible. “Is it working?” I asked.

“Yep.” Layla said and I turned un invisible.

“Thank goodness.” I said and they laughed as we continued on our way.
