Marks POV
Eyes focused on the ground, the squeak of my shoes against the polished white floors with the odd scratch or mark. I pace nervously outside Jacks hospital room. Distant, normal hospital sounds as background sounds between my racing thoughts. Heart throbbing and pounding, begging for Jack to be okay. Head aching from so much thinking. A tired haze lingering over my eyes. Setting a dream feel to this moment. I wish this was all just a dream.
I rethink how we got here.----Flash Back----
Sirens filled the club. Chaos erupted as the sound of a gun cocked. Screams erupt, people dash towards the door, trampled others in their paths to escape for their own lives. Gun fire rung through the club, three rounds of bullets fired, their shots loud enough to feel it within my chest. I jumped, more screams erupted. Everything had spun in a horrid, sickening panic. I turned, taking in it all.
Watched as Ethan fell on the floor with three bullet holes in him. He grasped his shoulder with a scream, blood oozed between his fingers as it bled. His eyes widen with fear and panic as he sat up and stared at the holes with a scream. Unable to decide whether to cover the bullet hole in his rib area or in his leg. He looks up at Tyler.
"Tyler!" Ethan gasped. "Tyler, look out!" He gritted his teeth and stood up. Tyler turned to find the gun, his eyes widen.
Ethan shoved Tyler, the gun fired. Ethan taking another round of bullets. One right into his lung. He gasped for air and coughed up blood as he collapsed to his knees and hands. Grasped the bullet hole into his lung as it bleeds out and drips on the stage.
Police tackled the guns man as he wielded a gun and blade. The guns man the same man who'd poisoned Jack with the drugs.
Tyler then rushed to Ethan, caught him before Ethan could fall onto his chest and held him up."Ethan! Ethan Please!! Stay awake, you'll be okay! I promise. Please, just stay with me. Im right here. ETHAN PLEASE!" Tears streamed down Tyler's cheeks as he desperately screamed at Ethan to listen. Cupping Ethan's cheeks within his bloodied hands from accidentally touching the six bullet holes in Ethan's body. Sobs and screams escaped Tyler's lips, "ETHAN PLEASE!!"
The medics rushed to us on stage, one taking Ethan from Tyler, the other ripped Jack from my tight cuddled arms. Tears streamed down my face in fear for everyone. The night fell into chaos and madness. They assessed him before they made the call to the other medic to bring in the stretcher. One called another ambulance for Ethan as he writhed on the floor in agonized pain. Desperately gasping hopelessly for air.
----End of flash back----I snap my head up hearing the door click and creek open of Jacks room. Half of me jumped with excitement that it would be Jack coming to cuddle me with that comforting, reassuring smile. Instead, a man in a white tuck in shirt and black dress pants comes out, a stethoscope around the back of his neck, clip board in hand.
"How is he?" I ask as anyone would. He sighs before looking me in the eyes. A hopeless feeling flushed through me, thinking Jack hadn't made it."Are you Mr Fichbach?" He asks. I nod, walking over to him with a ghost of a smile, reaching a hand out to him. He takes it and shakes my hand.
"Im Doctor Barnes, I'll be Jacks Doctor till he's well enough to be discharged from hospital." He explains."Please, call me Mark. And thank you for caring for him... But will he make it?" I ask also as anyone would. Dr Barnes sighs, not a rude one, instead an upset one as he looks down at his clipboard
"He's in a bad way, that dosage isn't good for someone his size. Seán is weak and vulnerable at this point... Theres no predictions we can make in his current state. Right now he's in a stable coma that we confirm he'll wake up from. His body had shut down in shock to so much of the drug at once." He explains, making my heart sink. I feel tears prick at my eyes, seeing them in my vision.
"This is all my fault. I should of been watching to make sure this didn't happen." I blamed myself. This really was all my fault.
"Mark, none of this would be your fault. Things like this just happen. You may go in to see him, but don't try wake him up because you could damage him more." I follow him back Jacks room, seeing a weak, pale body laying in a hospital bed of white sheets. Next to it a heart monitor displays a weak trace of heart beats. A drip slowly dripped down into the tube that leads into his arm. A needle under the skin at the top of his hand they'd inject medications into since he couldn't take them himself. His breathing still shallow, oxygen pump nose tube pumping oxygen into his lungs for him. This body looking nothing like the happy and bright Jack I was used to seeing.
"We've done all we can for now, only time will tell if he'll be okay. For now, you may stay with him, make calls but you are one of the only visitors allowed in here. Only you and family are allowed access." He explains. Once again, I nod."Thank you" I finally manage to say, my voice tearful. He smiles and takes a seat next to me.
"You're welcome Mark, " he smiles a friendly smile. "Look, just for you, my names Wade. Only you get to call me that okay? Because I feel like I will see you here a lot." He chuckles a little. I awkwardly rub the back of my neck. Silence falls between us.
"Hows Ethan?" I finally ask. Making him jump a little from not expecting me to speak. Worry for Ethan spreading within my chest. A look of utter upset flashes across Wade's face before he lowers his head. I don't understand at first... But then I do.
"No..." My voice tearfully high pitched. Cutting out as I said it.
