The cries of children were easy to hear. Some said they could be heard from miles away, making even the scariest and vicious creatures of the dark cower, at a loss of thoughts. It was at this time, every night, that Keith ran off. His eyes covered with a red bandana, he made his way through the forest by his knowledge.

The cries followed him, like a pack of wolves, hungry and bloodthirsty. They traced his footsteps and lined his fingertips as he brushed the grass to sit down. He slowly lifted his hands to brush the blindfold that covered his eyes, and took it off.

his face grew sad. He had taken it off rather quick, as if he had expected the sight of the sky to be in his presence. But only a sea of black lay before him, and the tight scars that lined his eyes seemed to act as cage bars, holding his sight back. He hugged his arms tightly around himself, listening to the birds, and feeling the wind that seemed to blow gently onto him, as if it was the only thing there to sooth him. He gave a sigh, and stood, with the help of the trees.

The cries that followed his footsteps still remained as he traced his hands across the trees, making his way back to the orphanage.
