Ruby was officially part of the team. I call our team the "A-team", there was no specific reason for it, it just sounded awesome.
Her job was to also protect Mike when I am not available or out. She also
studied under Mike's teachings to help him with the spaceship. She really liked the spaceship's name.
Just like Mike, she stayed in my home.
This place is getting crowded, I should
really consider moving out headquarters. Ruby then was a uear below me, 19. Yes, its already been 7 years since the start of my adventure of a lifetime. The spaceship is nearly done, all it needs is a bit of parts fuel, and good luck. Then Mike had an idea that would make me discover something about myself.
Mike wanted me to experience riding an aircraft, or well an airplane first before our actual journey. We
were about 10 stories high when
something hit me, I was afraid of
heights. As I was terrified, I quickly
grabbed the handle and turned bright
red. Ruby and Mike giggled in unison,
when we landed safely on the ground
in courtesy of the plane we rode, I
rushed to the nearest restroom then
vomited the breakfast I had 3 hours
before.
Mike asked me why I never told him I
have a phobia for heights. I responded
that I have never been so high up that I never realized I was scared of it.
They laughed again. I was getting
irritated, so at midnight I set alone to
the highest mountain to climb it get
over my fear.
Before I got out of my house I
accidentally stepped on a loaded gun,
Ruby's glock. It fired and hit me in right thigh. Ruby and Mike jumped in the air and grabbed their weapons and pointed them at me instinctively. I quickly put my hands in the air and said that it was only me, Xavier. They were me and asked me what was I doing in the middle of the night with full hiking equipment.
I explained my purpose, they giggled again. They told me that it was okay to have a phobia, they said that everybody had one. To prove it, they shared to me their own weaknesses and phobias, Mike was afraid of animals, a middle aged man, a father, and a ro ket scientist at the most renowned agency, is afraid of dogs. Knowing that really raised my self esteem. Then Ruby said something, she was afraid of the dark, I laughed but she remained serious, I apologized immediately. Then I got curious and asked her the reason for her phobia.
She said that it was because at
the time of the bomb, the underground bunker's electricity got cut and she was locked in accidentally in a room. For almost a week she was trapped in complete darkness, she had water to drink and food to eat, but she was alone in the dark for a week. Even I couldn't imagine that. It was nice to have someone to talk to, Mike and Ruby.
That was when it hit me. I still had
bullet in my leg. I reminded them of it
and they laughed, again. They took it
out of me, luckily, Ruby was good at
first aid. It was like the saying, "The
more the merrier".
