Ethan drove me to his house because he said his parents went home and we could have some time for ourselves. He pushed my wheelchair inside, everything was very modern and elegant.

"Grayson will be here soon," he said, picking me up and putting me on the couch, he then sat next to me.

He glanced at me before turning on the TV.

All this time watching TV, I felt his eyes on me, starting into my soul. I looked at him, but he quickly moved his head to look at the TV.

"Why were you staring at me?" I asked shyly.

"I wasn't" he chuckled. "Maybe it was you who was staring at me" he smirked.

"I wasn't" I laugh.

"Then how do you know I was staring at you if you wasn't staring at me?" He laughed.

"Mhm" I playfully rolled my eyes.

This boy was something else, he truly did make me happy. I wanted to ask him what were we, but it's too many words. I probably said enough just in one day.

Ethan's POV

Just as I was about to lean in and kiss her, Grayson comes in.

"Hey!!!" He shouted making my ears ache and Bailey jump in surprise.

"Hey." I pierced my lips together

Bailey nodded and continued watching the show.

"Ethan, Can I talk to you for a second?" Grayson asked

I nodded and followed him to the kitchen.

"What are you doing with that girl?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" I huffed.

"I don't know if you know this...but she isn't playing hard to get, she's mute"

"That's what you think" I whispered. "She can talk, I don't know why...but she only talks to me, and when she doesn't talk to me I can somehow read her mind and understand her."

Grayson laughed. "Ethan, this girl is muted. She can't talk and you can't read her mind" he chuckled. "Back at our old school you preferred the loud, entertaining, obnoxious girls. It makes no sense to make a transition so quickly. I know you Ethan your using her for something.."

"I was in the beginning, I'll admit. But I'm not anymore because my goals done."

"What was your goal?"

"To get her to talk."

"So you still do like the loud girls," Grayson chuckled.

I sighed and went back to the living room, Bailey wasn't there. But I saw an index card where she was sitting.

I unfolded it and started to read it.

I heard everything you and Grayson were saying about me, and I'm here to tell you. I lost my voice in the world, not my feelings, nor my brain. You don't have to treat me any different than anyone else because I'm still a human being. tomorrow at school don't you dare try to talk to me because I'm going back to the "mute" girl and maybe Grayson's right. Maybe you should hang out with loud, entertaining, obnoxious girls, just know that I won't be one of them because that's not who I am. I actually thought you cared, but you didn't, all you cared about was getting me to talk. Well I talked. Happy now?

XOXO - Bailey

I read the note over and over. I couldn't believe it. She was gone.

I scratched the back on my neck nervously. I didn't know what to do.

"She's not going to talk to me" I thought

"How am I going to fix this" I mumbled.
