All night I couldn't stop thinking about what happened. I spoke, maybe I can hold a conversation with Ethan. Maybe I could ask him out to prom.

I quickly did my morning routine and sent a quick text to Ethan.

Me: pick me up for school.
Ethan: ok 👌

I saw his car pull up in the driveway. Immediately rand down the staircase out of the door, I was so happy. I wanted to talk to him, I wanted to tell him thank you.

I got into the car with a huge smile spread across my face, I probably looked goofy, but I didn't care.

"Whats someone so happy about" he chuckled.

Just as I was about to talk another flashback occurred.

--FLASHBACK--
"If I ever hear you talk again, I'll beat you until I see the pink meat!!" My dad yelled furiously.

"David, just leave her alone honey." My mom pleaded "She's just a kid" she cried.

"I never wanted a kid in the first place!" He slapped her across the face, she instantly fell on the floor holding her cheek.

I gasped, but later regretted it.

"Did you just talk girl!?" He Rose the belt

I shook my head until I felt disy.

"You lying now!" He said yanking me up from the floor and dragging me up the staircase.

"Stop! David Stop!" My mom said trying to lose the his hand on me. His free hand slapped her across the face and she instantly fell down the staircase. I watched her there, laying there still as could be. I didn't say a word, because I knew if I did...my consequences would be bad.

He threw me in my room and immediately started to beat me with his spiked belt.

"Don't talk"

Those words repeated in my head don't talk

---END OF FLASHBACK---

I took one look at Ethan and he immediately understood, he started the car and drove off the the school. Throughout the whole car ride don't talk stayed in my mind.

-At the school-

Soon as Ethan parked I ran out into the school, desperately pushing through the crowds.

"Bailey!" He called out.

I took a turn and locked myself in a dark room. Suddenly lights started to turn on, lighting up the whole room. I finally realized where I was. The music room.

I desperately tried to unlock the door and run out but it was too late. Miss. Wills tapped my shoulder. She had a strict rule about student in her room. You can't leave unless you sing, in front of her whole class.

"Care to sing a song?" She asked, leading me to the stage.

No matter how hard I shook my head, she couldn't see me. I was finally on the stage in front of her students and some of the staff. I wanted to run out but two students were on both sides of the stage, I knew if I ran I would probably regret it.

"Sing honey!" Miss. Wills yelled, sitting in the chairs below me.

I opened my mouth but nothing came out. Students and some of the staff started to laugh. I stood there for another five minutes, wanting to leave, but I knew I wasn't going anywhere.

My hands started to get sweaty and everyone who was laughing now looked impatient.

"Why Bailey!? Why? Out of all the rooms why'd you pick this one" I thought.

I jumped off the stage, falling on my leg, I let out a small scream but I kept running. I finally reached the doors and ran out, the hallways were empty and clean, I collapsed in front of some lockers, holding my leg. No matter how many times I wiped my tears, they just kept falling.

"Bailey.." Ethan's voice called out. He sat down beside me and pulled me in a warm comforting hug. "I don't care if you can talk or not. It's not your voice I'm falling for. It's you" he said.

"Wouldn't you want someone to talk to?" I suddenly said. He stopped hugging me and looked me in the eyes.

"Bailey...you just talked!" He laughed excitedly.

I shook my head, then I pointed at my leg, it was a little swollen. Although I kinda confused Ethan, he understood I needed to get to the nurse.

--
When we got to the nurses office, they just gave me a wheelchair.

"Great" I thought "a muted girl in a wheelchair"

"Bailey, I know what I heard" Ethan said pushing me through the hallways to my next class. "I know that I heard you"

I shook my head.

"Yes I did!" He yelled. "Bailey everytime you think about talking you get devastated about something your father did, I don't know what he did to you...but whatever happened to you is okay, you don't have to hide anymore." He said holding my hand.

We stared eachother down for a good ten minutes before he sighed. He kissed me on my forehead and pushed me into my next class.
