chapter summary ; stanley is still fighting with richie, but also gets to fight with bill now. eddie sulks.
...
"hey richie, what's up?" bill asks happily (too happily, in richie's opinion.)
richie just walks right in.
"what's up?" bill asks again, slower this time.
"i kissed stan. twice. and he still pretends it never happened. i accidentally told him i'm in love with him." richie has no expression as he sits on the couch, his lips pressed into a thin line.
bill tries to be empathetic.
"you'll find someone, rich, just like i did. you have to stop obsessing over stan-like i did with eds-and you'll find someone. i promise." he gives a weak smile, squeezing richie's shoulder lightly.
"he's just the worst, billiam." richie sighs.
and richie wants to just break down and cry. so he does. and bill hugs him. for a long time. and they think about their best friends-each of them thinking of somebody different-in silence, supporting each other.
...
"why you gotta do that to my man richie?" bill asks from the doorway.
"what?" stan looks up from his newspaper.
"you're really a big dick to him, stan." bill shrugs, sighing.
"i didn't do squat to him. he's just being over dramatic." stan shakes his head and goes back to reading.
"what the fuck."
stan looks up again.
"what the fuck?" bill repeats.
"richie literally... he literally told you that he loved you, stanley. but you're going to sit here and call him over dramatic? i don't know what the fuck has come over you, but i don't like it."
and he leaves.
stan sighs. bill is right. and he knows it.
"was that bill?" eddie peeks his head out of his room.
stan nods.
"did he leave?"
stan nods again, patting the spot on the couch next to him.
