(03) (Final Part)

'Heinlin hospital'
I read the sign in front of me, before stepping into the humid building
The smell of medicine hitting me as soon as I stepped through the door

Nothing but a silence filled with sneezes and coughs surrounding each section of the hospital

I ran to the front desk as I realised that she was here somewhere.
Instantly snapping out and asking for the room she was in

"I'm sorry, visiting hours are finished for the day. "
She said, looking towards me with a smile, as she continued to click documents on her computer with the mouse

"Is there any way I could see her??
"Or know how she is?"
"Please."
I placed my hands on the counter, tears filling my eyes once again, before looking up and waiting for her answer

She sighed sadly before turning to me again
"I'm sorry, you can't unless you're the family of the patien-"

Her words get interrupted by a loud voice shouting from one of the corridors,
breaking the silence that had been in the room previously

"Bean!"

I recognised the voice almost instantly, only one person called me that and that was lilla's aunt

I turned around in shock, but also feeling relieved in some way to see a smiling face, gesturing to come with her

I ran towards her, slightly jogging before following behind her in silence

Neither of us knew what to say in this situation, she knew why I was here...

you can see the sadness she was feeling in her eyes from a mile away
Anybody could.

My hands were in my pockets as I looked down, following the footsteps of her aunt
My mind was completely blank
I was just staring off into space...unsure of what to do or say

We walked in complete silence,
walking through the cold hallways
Constantly, turning left and right
before we stopped in front of a large double glass door.

I noticed that she had stopped walking and I looked up instantly, my eyes widening at the realisation that she's here somewhere

I looked towards to see 3 letters written across the glass door
"ICU"
(Intensive Care Unit)

I stood frozen,
ignoring the words that had come from aunt behind me

Instead my gaze was fixed on the girl laying on the hospital bed, tubes attached to her, with multiple machines in the surrounding..

Hearing nothing but the beeping sound that came from the heart and pulse screens.

I took slow steps
I couldn't blink nor think until I had reached her hospital bed

Tears swelled my eyes,
I tried my best to hold them in, I really did.
I'm on the verge of breaking down

Seeing her pale face, skinny body laying on a hospital bed
Worst part is
I had no idea she was going through it

I took her cold hand and placed it in mine, doing nothing but staring at her face until I couldn't hold the tears back anymore
