A phone sat precariously perched on a stack of books, propped up and pointing at the window ledge. Jerome paced back and forth at the foot of the hospital bed as he thought about what he should say. He had to explain without giving out too much information and without causing fans to panic. He tapped the record button and sat down, clearing his throat and looking at the camera.

"Hey everybody, Jerome here, and I have some...news. Well I'm sure you have noticed that Mitch and I haven't uploaded anything in a few days, so I think I should explain why. A few days ago..." He began, then stopped, as tears began to form in his eyes. I have to keep it together, I can't make them worry. He quickly blinked them away and carried on explaining. "A few days ago, Mitch was involved in a car crash. He was hit by a drunk driver on his way to work. He's currently in a coma, and its possible he could have some brain damage when he wakes up. He should fine though, nothing permanent or paralyzing, so please don't worry." He paused once again, trying to think of what else he could say.

"I will try and keep you guys updated as to what his condition is, and we will probably make a video when he wakes up. Thank you all for always supporting us, and um... I'll talk to you guys later." He could feel tears running down his cheeks, and could no longer stop the cascade of water. He quickly stopped the camera and put his face in his hands. At least I did it, at least I told them. They aren't completely in the dark anymore.

He considered editing it, making it nicer, but decided against it. He thought just uploading the raw footage would work well enough. Jerome loaded the video onto his laptop, Mitch's parents had stopped at his house and grabbed it for him on their way down. He knew the password to Mitch's YouTube account, so he uploaded it onto both of their channels, so everyone who was subscribed to the both of them could see.

There, that was done, now he didn't feel so guilty about leaving the fans in the dark. He sat by Mitch's bed and pulled out his phone, he wanted to read to him some more. Jerome had read three more chapters when Charlotte and Mitch's parents came in.

"I'd like to go through some of this data with you three, to catch you up on his condition." Charlotte said, flipping through a file in her hand.

"Alright" Jerome said, nodding. Mitch's parents nodded as well.

"Well, his condition is certainly improving, the wound on his head is healing nicely, as are the cracked ribs. We were Initially worried about severe brain damage or possible paralysis, but it seems it may not be as serious as we thought at first. He will definitely have some memory problems and problems with motor skills, but they should return to normal within a few weeks of recovery. Of course, there's no way to be one hundred percent sure until he wakes up, and he won't get any better if he doesn't try to. So when he wakes up he will need to do physical therapy to regain strength in his leg, and to make sure he's fully functioning as far as motor skills go." Charlotte paused to make sure they understood.

"Okay, do you have any idea when he will be awake?" Mitch's dad asked.

"No, I wish we could give you a clear answer but as for his coma he isn't showing any signs of regaining consciousness. He hasn't responded to stimulus, but his brain patterns show that his brain is still active and fine. The readings have been fine, other than low blood pressure. He should make a full recovery once he wakes up."

They were relieved to hear that Mitch was going to recover and he would be fine. The only question was when he would wake up.

"We are going to keep him on oxygen for a while, just to be cautious, as he had minor damage to his lungs. It's nothing to worry about, but we don't want to risk any problems when he's doing so well. He was really lucky, you know. In cases of crashes with drunk drivers, the driver who is hit almost always dies." Charlotte said.

Jerome blinked. He hadn't even given the other guy any thought. He didn't even know his name or if he lived... Well, the bastard almost took his Mitch away from him! Why should he care what happened to him?! He was still curious however, the crash really messed up Mitch. it had to of messed the other guy up as well.

"Hey Charlotte." He asked.

"Yes?" She replied, handing the file to Mrs Hughes.

"What happened to the drunk that hit him?"

"Oh, yes, he lived and is currently in another area of the hospital. I'm not legally allowed to tell you anything about his condition. However I can assure you that he will never come anywhere near this room, or Mitch." She told him. Jerome nodded. He was grateful that he wouldn't have to see the stupid fucker around the hospital. He glanced at Mitch, still lieing peacefully on the bed. He wanted to wrap his arms around him, he seemed so fragile now, with tubes and needles stuck in his ghostly pale skin. Jerome was almost afraid to touch him, for fear that the other boy would shatter under his hand.

"Jerome?" Mr Hughes voice behind him snapped Jerome out of his thoughts.

"Yeah?" He replied quickly, turning towards him.

"We were going to go and get something for lunch, it's already 2:00. Would you like to come with us?"

"It's two already? okay, yeah I'll go with." They three of them left to go get something from the cafeteria, while Charlotte stayed in the room. They didn't want to take too long, they only spent about a half hour eating before they returned. When they returned however, things were not well in room D18.
